Protects my teeth, claimed of increased strength are dubious
I got these because I was looking for a mouth guard that didn't get in the way. Most sports mouth guard require a closed jaw, forcing me to breath through my nose or awkwardly breath through my mouth. These were supposed to leave the mouth open to breath freely.First thing first: There were a lot of reviews on here about how the fitting process destroys the mouthpiece or otherwise makes it a mess. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Those posters have mentioned that boiling it melts it. This is true, but you are NOT SUPPOSED TO BOIL IT. You boil water, then transfer the water in to a glass bowl, *then* place though mouthpiece in the water. I followed the instructions and everything was done perfectly, easily, and on the first try.Moving on to practicality, the mouthpiece took a little getting used to, but not much. By my third day lifting with it I was adjusted to having it in my mouth. It makes it hard to swallow, but since my teeth are separated I can breath very freely. It fits well, and it's uncomfortable. I got this to protect my teeth since I clench during heavy lifts and was concerned about cracking something. The mouthpiece accomplishes this perfectly. I can bite down as hard as I'm inclined to without pain or fear of dental damage. One less thing to worry about when working out.As far as the claim that it helps you lift stronger, I haven't noticed any difference. Not even a few pounds. I've been lifting for year, and maybe a beginner would notice a difference? But since it's marketed to heavy lifters I would say the claim, in my experience, is untrue. I've seen several people on lifting forums stating it made no difference for them either, but there are a handful who say they thought it worked a little. Take it as you will, but don't expect anything magic.

A must for lifting
I bite down a lot when lifting heavy and I nearly chipped my teeth doing deadlifts. You only get one set of teeth and knowing that Brian Shaw uses this mouth piece I knew it was a winner. I read some other reviews that were negative saying how the mouth piece was melted and ruined when they boiled it in the water, well those people are dumb the instructions don't tell you to do that, so follow the instructions first step, there is an instructional video showing and explaining how to fit the mouth piece you get. It's very straight forward and simple.I followed the directions amazingly and guess what it fit perfectly first try. Now the piece does look a bit different but that is normal you can see it changes a little in the video as well don't be alarmed that's perfectly fine. I used my piece right after I had fit it to my teeth. I must say it was great to use that gym day, it made me focus more on my workouts and not on my bite downs to worry about my teeth. I had a better bench press that day! I use it all the time now, whenever I do a weight increase I wear it as I'm a biter and I need my teeth to not grind down. Having this makes me more confident at the gym. There are a lot of nice colors, blue was out of stock when I ordered it so they gave me an estimate of when I would receive it and I was updated when that changed to a sooner date which was great. They kept in great communications and you get a mouth guard case with the mouth piece and a clip, which I use. I clip it to my pocket and keep it at my side for a fast grab.I highly recommend this if you bite down hard and grind your teeth at the gym. This will take the stress away in your mouth and it will help with your focus.

Makes you strong, but don't overcook
The product works great, but the instructions must have been written by someone living at 10k feet. After boiling for the instructed time, I pulled out a collapsed used-chewing-gum looking blob. I had to use a knife to unstick the sides and managed to get it in my mouth before it set. But my guard is pretty warped now and I am not totally happy with it.I will say though, that when I am on intensity day, I pop this thing in around my working sets and instantly feel stronger. I used to worry about chipping my teeth because of clenching during heavy sets, because I have totally done that. But now I can bite down and focus everything on the lifts. Feels good

Don't buy. Shrank and melted
Definitely don't buy. I boiled the mouth piece for 50 seconds like it said and the thing melted and shrank. What a waste of money.

Fitting is a gamble
Ordered my second one after the first one split in half on the bite portion after 2 months. Knowing that it doesn't need the whole minute to sit in boiling water I left it for 30 seconds and bit down for the impressions. It folded over and is now a rubber wad of gum. The instructions should tell you to hold the attaching band above the water during the water process otherwise it will shrink and you probably won't get the best fitting. $40 in the trash. I recommend the under armour bite guard. It'll crack eventually but the fitting directions are based on them knowing their own product at least.

Protects Teeth and Fits Well
I’m not sure where people are getting their fitting instructions. I followed the online video to the letter and the mouth piece fits just fine for me. It did shrink and warp slightly but the fit is outstanding and aligns with my teeth instantly.Increased strength isn’t really noticeable but then again I’m not competing at the Brian Shaw level. There is definitely something to be said about being able to bite down/not worry about grinding my teeth anymore while I’m lifting. In my opinion, the mouth piece isn’t necessarily made of $40.00 worth of plastic but it’s one of the few mouth guards I’ve seen that allows me to breath heavy through my lifts but still provides enough comfort and protection for my jaw and teeth. The design makes it worth it.I removed a star because the included case was a complete piece of cheap trash. It didn't even last 3 weeks.Follow the online instructional video and it will be fine. Now to see how long it lasts...
