Limnology: Lake and River Ecosystems

This text is a decent book as far as the content goes (which is the only reason I gave it a 3 star rating as opposed to a 2 star rating) BUT it was definitely not designed with students in mind. The writing is somewhat convoluted at times and really makes it a chore to read. The graphs are excellent, but if I had not had a great professor for my class and had to rely on the book alone to decipher things I probably would have been lost.

I purchased this book even before I was a college student. Half way through my junior year, I continue to reference this outstanding resource in many of my research papers. No dumbing down in this text--it's depth and comprehensiveness is integral to its appeal and usefulness. I would love to see an update especially in light of the advances in ecological restoration and geotechnologies; but, "Limnolody" is a must for anyone who wants to understand water and/or riparian ecology. Kudo's to Wetzel!

This is a timeless classic. Limnologist should never need to purchase another textbook on limnology. This book is compendious and frequently cited in peer-reviewed manuscripts.

For my granddaughter who is majoring in Environmental Sciences and wants to specialize in Limnology. This is complete and should help her make up her mind, which I suspect is made up already.

Definitive work on physical, as well as biological limnology. Superb treatment of the various origins of lake basins and lake morphology.

Wetzel's 3rd edition is the limnology bible. Too bad he won't be around for a 4th edition on a constantly growing subject.

This is a great book. Extremely well written and packed with information.

The best limnology book written.

This is an excellent book for those interested in limnology and makes a great introductory text on the subject. The book is published by a very reputable academic publisher. I was very impressed with the quality and sheer size of the book. I thought it was very good value for money.

Äußerst ausführlich und verständlich geschriebenes Fachbuch über das gesamte Ökosystem See (und Flüsse)! Für mich lässt das Buch keine Wünsche offen und zählt zu meinen Favoriten. Besonders lobenswert waren meines Erachtens Aufteilung und nochmalige kurze Zusammenfassungen am Ende jeden Kapitels zur schnellen Rekapitulation.
