Tense political thriller
The CapWar Election is the first book in a series, for which I am thankful because it means I can have the pleasure of reading the next tense political thriller from this accomplished author. The pace never lets up from the start and although this might be a cliché, it’s a page turner. I read it late into the nights, wanting to find out what happened next and thoroughly engrossed by the action. The story cleverly combines a raft of political conspiracy theories and presents them as a believable whole. It is shocking in the way it portrays events as credible, real-life scenarios. As Mr Legg points out, the tale is fiction; but at times it makes you wonder. The realism is a tribute to the author’s skill and the fact that he is well-versed in current surveillance techniques, as well as political machinations.I live in a country that is one of the most-watched societies in the world and the US is fast following suit. Mr Legg lets us see these developments and shows us how much power is available to be wielded by people who enact covert and overt surveillance on others. Most of that aspect is not fiction. He presents us with a frightening view of modern times in which people are watched constantly and power is abused daily. The CapWar Election is a mind-boggling journey through US politics past and present, and speculation about the future after considering the basis of how much can be bought by rich individuals, and how many people can be bought, too. The book is well worth the read – lovers of thrillers, political or otherwise, will not be disappointed. I’m looking forward to reading the next one, The CapWar Experience, and have already bought my copy.

CHILLING THRILLER
First in the three-book CapStone Conspiracy Series by the master of suspense, intrigue and worldwide conspiracy itself. The new and long-awaited trilogy from Brandt Legg doesn't disappoint. It's chilling, scary, heart-thumping and, as you observe American politics today, most certainly and terrifyingly believable and possible. We can't say we haven't been warned. Not to be missed.

A fast-paced journey of deception and conspiracy
An unexpected candidate runs for the Republican Party in the U.S. Presidential elections – no, it’s not a documentary of recent events in the States, ones which we are all only too familiar with, but the premise of Brandt Legg’s latest trilogy. Author Legg sets the events in a post-Trump era where he places an unsuspecting and innocent hardware store owner, Hudson Pound, in the hands of a billionaire who wants to make him the leader of the free world. As the events proceed, Pound comes under attack, literally and figuratively, on his electoral road, which leads to some intense action scenes throughout. The novel takes the reader on a fast-paced journey of deception and conspiracy as the protagonist and his immediate family discover the realities behind what they thought was a democratic system designed to elect the best man for the job. Add in a mysterious extremist terrorist group, which will stop at nothing to influence the results, and a dangerous personal secret Pound and two childhood friends try to keep the ever-vigilant Press, and his political opponents, from finding out, and the level of intrigue and skulduggery keep the pages turning in this tense thriller.Like his other three series, this, book one in the ‘Capstone Conspiracy’ series, will become a must-read for fans of Legg’s novels. More than just a run-of-the-mill political thriller, ‘CapWar Election’ takes a hard and critical look at real events and questions the understanding most of us have about the way the U.S. electoral system works, whilst at the same time entertaining us with a cracking tale of corruption and double-dealing. You will find you will be thinking about this one even after the novel is finished. A great read: I’ve already started book 2.

He had to stop them. There was to much to fix
CapWar Election is not meant to be provocative, but even if you take it as mere fiction, it stirs through raises a lot of “what if” questions. What is the meaning of leadership, when a a bought-and-paid-for politician arrives at a position of power? Can such a leader find the courage to break away from the corruptive forces to which he owes his position? Can he chart an independent course of action, for himself and for the nation? “He had to stop them. There was to much to fix. He had to live.”Written in fast pace, dynamic style, this political thriller has suspenseful ups and downs: assassination attempt, media attack on the private life of the candidate” “turns out not many people have a perfect family. it’s yet another reason for the electorate to identify with Hudson Pound, the everyman candidate.” There is also a faltered performance at a crucial debate. “With just days before the country voted, Hudson lost his first debate.”Looking forward to read the next book in this exciting new series.Five stars.

Loved it
Brandt Legg (‘The Last Librarian’) is back in style with a crackling new three-book series ‘CapStone Conspiracy.’ This is Book One, ‘CapWar ELECTION’ and it’s a thrill-ride. Probably one of Legg’s best, I think this will broaden his appeal even further, given the timely concept behind the political conspiracy. Great job!

The scariet truths of all
Nobody today is better at fiction that tells cautionary tales than Brandt Legg. Is this political thriller science fiction? Allegory? Or truths we won't admit to knowing -- yet! Bold and unforgettable, CapWar Election is the first of three Capstone Conspiracy books. Having spent 20 years working in defense and intelligence, I guarantee you that this one is as close to reality as fiction gets. Ready for some true truth? Get CapWar Election
