First Phase Review - The Process
All went well. Book arrived before shipping estimate. The publishing date is 3-years ago, but not a major concern. Condition was absolutely never been touched, no scratches, even from sitting against other books.Won't be reading until later this summer, but the organization and content looks like what I have been looking for. I have an engineering background and intend to go back to school and get a law degree. Many texts just seem needlessly wordy to me. This book has a consistent numerical system through which integrates content across chapters and sets format and protocol for based upon numbering system. Although text is a bit small for me, the visual organization will help me a great deal. This is a sight unseen purchase and I am very happy. Will write phase II later that actually addresses content. As a newbie trying to acquaint myself with various types of documents I will be the least common denominator reviewing the content. Therefore, if I get it, most likely those of you who have had instruction will do well with it or may even find the complexity you require. Personally, I think simplicity rules!

Better with notes in it
This is a good compact book worth highlighting.I say that b/c when you are working on a paper day unto day you are likely to be lost in your facts and arguments. A highlighted checklist of do's and don't is helpful to make sure your basics are working.this book will directly state dont say "x" say "y" instead. When you are tired and editing this is great.

Law School
I wasn't required to buy this book, but my prof get sick, and I ended up in the author's class. She shared many of the chapters we needed, but I decided to purchase a copy to keep. Well worth the investment.

Fast delivery & Brand new!
The Book was new as advertised. It was also delivered in less time than stated. It is concise and easier to follow than my course book, which is too detailed to be helpful when I'm writing and need a refresher on main points or examples on how to phrase my analysis. I found it VERY HELPFUL as a QUICK POINTER GUIDE, not as a COURSE TEXT.

It could be better. Good for basic information.
Very short chapters with basic information. The examples are not that great. This book was required and it was more annoying than helpful in my legal research and writing classes.

Great for classes
I love examples and explanations for studying. I think they are a necessity for preparing for finals, and for clarifying any issues.

Great Resource for Use Throughout Law School
The Examples & Explanations for Legal Writing is a great supplement to use throughout law school. This comprehensive resources covers both objective writing and persuasive writing, and does so separately, which makes for a simple, organized, and straightforward guide. One of the most valuable parts of this book is the section on revising and rewriting. It has helped me fix awkward sentence structure, write strong paragraphs, and transition between paragraphs. The example-explanation format works very well for the topic since one of the best ways to learn how to write well is to see how/why some legal writing can be improved. I would recommend this supplement for use throughout law school.
