The Ultimate Guide To Strumming

Just about all the rhythm courses I've found show you how to play 15 variations of chords up and down the neck. This book sticks to strumming. It's well laid out, easy to follow and doesn't bog you down with a bunch of mindless text on the history of the strum! The links to his webpage for audio examples is easy to get to and simple to follow (usually with a slow then up-to-speed tempo track). Some people said the download didn't work from their Kindle, mine never tried to download the files. Maybe they fixed it the problem by developing a webpage with all the tracks? I got the book free on Unlimited but I'll be purchasing it to keep for reference.

I purchased this book and had it delivered to my Kindle app on my IPad. All the pdf lesson example pages downloaded just fine and all audio samples downloaded or you link directly to them, and they worked fine as well. As for the book, Ultimate Guide to Strumming is top notch lessons presented in a highly understandable and thoughtfully presented way. Dan Thorpe’s style will have you gaining strumming improvement, real life pro pointers in improving technique and well laid out practice direction, with plenty of audio samples. Get this book, I am glad I did.

This book covers the fundamentals of strumming in a clear, well organized manner. It is essential for the beginner, and a good resource for the intermediate player.

The author I think means well, but I think this work needs to have video downloads too.If you're going to have a multi-media work out there describing musical technique, you need to have video - but that's just my opinion I guess.

My rhythm is improving with this book. The accompanying audio urls are great. The author has also included references to some famous tunes using the strumming patterns you are learning, making it all the more fun.

Having learnt playing the guitar (in my rather adult years) to a very basic level before, this book was THE missing link which I had been looking for so long. It gives very useful guidance, slowly increases difficulty levels and touches all aspects that I had been looking for (from the most basic strumming patterns to strumming with 16th notes, rests/staccato strumming and tons of variations of all of them). It is well written and and easily understandable for non-native speakers like myself. It always gives very good summaries at the end of each section.Potential for further improvement: The provided audio examples are a little on the artificial side and lack to convey feeling or "soul". And then a video link to show certain specific techniques like palm muting or slapping would be even more helpful (but I acknowledge that this is maybe too much to ask for an ebook in the 10 € / 10 $ range). I have experimented with two other ebooks on strumming (admittedly even cheaper ones) and this is clearly the best.
