I blended this with crushed coral and used it to set up a 7.2 gallon tank. I was able to get it cycled in three days (using long-established media), which is consistent with the name brand soils I have used in the past. I had to rinse it off probably five or six times, which I have had to do with other brands as well. For me, it seems like it is largely dependent on the batch and can vary from bag to bag. Regardless, you should always thoroughly rinse anything you put in your aquarium.I have placed a number of plants in the soil, and have not experienced any melt thus far. I took a handful of neocaridina and set them loose in the tank, so far there have been no casualties or issues. I would advise buyers to keep a close eye on the ph level, as this with the crushed coral can really move the needle to the lower end. I would also advise that for people who have only used rocks or sand in the past. It has only been a week, but so far the quality matches up to the soil I have in five other tanks.

These were larger in size. Worked well, did not cloud water even after movement.

I used this in the small shrimp tank I recently set up and it works great. It looks nice and my plants are doing well. It’s easy to use and this 1 bag worked well for the new 2 1/2 gallon bucket tank. The shrimp seem to like it too
