CalphalonContemporary Nonstick 5-Quart Saut? with Glass Lid

It arrived yesterday, used it tonight. So happy with the lighter weight from my original set I'd had when Calphalon first came out. We made Phad Thai veggies with Chinese bbq pork and nothing stuck, as promised. Heated the pan first, then added a bit of peanut oil, then the veggies and pork in order of cooking time needed, putting a bit of water from the pot that was boiling the rice noodles and periodically covered it to steam the veggies as needed. We'd made pineapple yellow curry rice with chicken and veggies earlier in another Calphalon pot from the new set that had a nice selection of pots and pans. It just needed this bigger salute pan to make it close to complete. So far, so good. Have already used several items from the set, but it's still early days. Taking care in following their cooking and cleaning instructions ( we have a glass top electric stove ), wooden and/or rubber utensils, cool the pots before hand washing, etc. I expect them to last as long as my first set. The only reason I gave those to a friend was that they'd become too heavy for our arthritic hands. These new, lighter weight ones should work much better for us.

This Calphalon saute pan replaces an old Calpalon pot of mine. I like the Calpahlon brand, except for the problem of water collecting in the crevice of the lid, where the glass meets the metal when you wash the lid. Other than that, the bottom is nice and straight and even for even cooking on my glass top range. The pot is fairly heavy, but not extreme like some other brands. I like the long handle and the small grab handle on the opposite side - this makes it easy to lift when it has a lot of contents. I wash mine by hand and I can mange it in my large sink. And I don't just use it for sauteing, I heat many other things that requite a larger pot.

I am not rating this product as it was damaged when it arrived. The packaging was very poor and therewas no paper work inside the box. The glass lid did not fit, it left about 1/4" gap, could not say if thepan was not right or the lid or both. I was very disappointed as I used this pan before and loved it for manyyears, I wanted a replacement. It was poorly handled. I will not be ordering this again. Returning this itemwas not easy, but Amazon came thru. I received excellent customer service.

There is a major defect concerning the glass lid. When I washed the glass lid water accumulated between the glass and the metal rim. Further review of the glass lid shows that the gasket between the glass and the metal rim is missing. I ordered a 3 quart pan and a 5 quart pan. The lid on the 5 quart pan was shipped damaged. The reason I know this is because the 5 quart pan was heavily wrapped in bubble wrap. Also this glass lid had no gasket between the glass and the metal rim. Please send me non-defective rims.

This was listed as dishwasher safe. It is not, the outside finish has completely washed off and now it’s covered with a sticky grey film from anodizing. I visited the actual Calphalon website which lists it as non-dishwasher-safe, so the issue is with the Amazon listing. If you buy anything from this listing, plan on hand washing.

I have collected Calphalon products for many years. This pan replaces one of my original ones (30 good years). The pan has a perfectly flat bottom which is necessary for my flat cooktop. Heat distribution is excellent. The lid is of a quality weight and fits just snug enough. I recommend any Calphalon product!

Ordered this to replace the Caphalon pan I love…..came wrapped in immense amounts of bubble wrap w lid wrapped separately. So happy w packaging/shipping and product!

This is an exact replacement for a pan we had used for many years. We can't use a wok on our electric stove so this deep pan is perfect for stir frying veggies and the tight fitting lid is good for steaming. Because it is so heavy there are two handles.
