Carter Fuel Systems Mechanical Fuel Pump Automotive Replacement (M6588)

This fuel pump fit my 68 Mustang perfectly and is working great.

New fuel pump installed in about 5-10 minutes and worked flawlessly

Installed in 10min on my 1966 ford 500 XL, did not need to purge fuel line, started right up after priming carb. Recommend to anyone, great price, fast shipping.

I noticed that even the new brand name replacement pumps like this are becoming un serviceable. It works as it should, but if it breaks, you need to buy a new one as the originals have screw on inlet and outlet ports where this one is crimped on by a machine and to work on it you would need to bend the metal on the base back and that weakens the metal so you can only do it like once before you have a non sealing pump. I would call these cheap Chinese made replacements when you just need a new pump and don't have time or patience to repair the original (if there was an original on it).

The media could not be loaded.  Put this in my 1970 Mustang 302. Works just fine, however it makes a constant chirping sound (see video). EXTREMELY annoying, but since I listen to the radio 95% of the time I'm driving, I can live with it I guess. I'm hoping it just needs to "break in" and it'll eventually go away.

Does not fit the 351C but it is a very well made and quality part. I returned this one and got the correct Carter pump for the 351C instead. Amazon said this was the right pump but they were wrong. It’s a pain to get to and you have to remove the power steering pump to get to the top bolt but it was a perfect fit. I suggest using Ultra Black RTV silicone to seal this pump to the block instead of the included gaskets to make sure you don’t have any leaks. I also greased the pump arm before I installed it to make sure it ran smooth.

I’ve bought two of these for my truck and mustang. Works like it should.

Put the fuel pump on had 10 to 12 pounds pressure blew out my seats in my carburetor. Rebuilt that kept running rich never thought about too much fuel pressure. Great quality control had to buy a regulator to get the pressure down.

Had to replace plump after a single start.Do not recommend it.

Pump fit nicely, worked great for first 10 min, went for a short drive, pump leaked on headers making a big mess. I would hope the supplier would warranty this product. But no luck... my bad, buy from jobber, shop local! Almost cost me a motor!
