The United Artists Story

There's nothing I enjoy more than reading about the history of a movie studio. I'm currently up to 1938 in this one and loving hearing about the Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin and many more. Only small complaint is the reviewer seems awfully hard to please and is unduly harsh on some pretty darn good films like the classic screwball comedy Nothing Sacred which he damns with faint praise.

If you want to know the answers to these scintillating trivia questions you'll just have to buy this wonderful book.

Beautiful visual history of one of Hollywoods most notes movie studio. Great pictures and stories, year by year. I would recommend for all movie lovers.

Real nice book for the movie buff. Lots of photos. Well worth buying . Nice book, good price. What more could you want.

A solid reference book of all of the titles that were distributed by the film studio United Artists from 1919 to 1985. Originally founded by Charlie Chaplin, D.W. Griffiths, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford United Artists went on to produce a rich collection of classic movies from High Noon (1952), Some Like It Hot (1959), The Apartment and The Magnificent Seven (both 1960) and West Side Story (1961) ,Woody Allen to Rocky and the James Bond franchise.This book features black and white photographs for every single film and is only spoiled slightly by the author Ronald Bergan's harsh opinions and often sneering comments, which otherwise is a definitively superb chronicle of one the most creatively daring studios in the history of film.

Great book covering up to 1985....but disappointed that the later coverage was not in colour.....entire book is in black and white
