Jazz, Blues, Boogie & Swing for Piano

This is one of the best music books I own, I've had my copy for over 40 years and still go back to it. I bought this copy as a gift for a young aspiring pianist.

This edition is missing a couple of key songs I really wanted that were in the old edition like Dizzy Fingers.

Bought as a gift for an avid classical pianist, who is trying to get into jazz, along with a book of scales, he LOVED it! He was going through showing his wife the songs and tempos, and seemed excited for the challenge. I am not a pianist, but I followed the other reviews and it turned out well.

I enjoy plaing the songs in this book.

I find this book worth the price. The music in is not easy, and takes consistent effort, to get to a skilled level of performance. I'm older now, and have to re-learn what I knew years ago. It is just plain fun to work on this kind of music. I find it interesting & it cheers me up.It might be helpful if the book had some practical exercises mixed in, like in the book on stride, swing, blues, boogie. But those who wrote this music made it interesting, and I like their style.After I get better (DV) at playing these songs, I'll have a higher rating for the book.

Amazing collection for boogie-lover! There are a lot of medium to fast boogie songs. I was surprised because I found some interesting Rags too. One important fact: is the original sheet music!! About difficulty: yes, requires work, but they are playable if you have enthusiasm and good finger technique, and a bit of walleristic-spirit!. I'm waiting for a second collection from Hal Leonard! Excellent collection.

I only wish for more Jay McShan.

I would've like to have gotten a preview of the book before purchase for a song that it claimed was in the book but wasn't... :/

This is a great album of original arrangements. It would suit a player that is at about grade 7 or 8 ABRSM standard who is a good technical player and a very good reader.

Wer die erforderliche Technik mitbringt der hat mit diesem Buch eine Sammlung die ein versierter Jazz/Bluespianist haben sollte.Ebenfalls ist zu erwähnen, dass jedes Stück im original vorliegt. Aber wer sich noch mit einfachen Ragtime Stücken schwer tut, der sollte lieber die richtige Technik sich aneignen ( Jazzparnass etc.)Den schwierigkeitsgrad würd ich schon als schwer bezeichnen, da Stücke von Art Tatum nicht Schwierigkeit 1 haben.Man sollte aber sich nicht abschrecken lassen. Es ist eben kein Buch für Anfänger.

Took a bit longer than expected, but a nice letter to seller hurried things along. Looks like a fantastic book, not really for beginners. Unfortunately, I've only been playing about 6 months, so I'm still a beginner

Die Zusammenstellung der Stücke ist sehr zu empfehlen.
