It looses a star cause it feels/acts more like porcelain. It’s unlike any bone I’ve ever encountered. Anyway, the spacing is spot on and the groove size also worked out on medium gauge electric strings. So it hit the three F’s for me nicely… form, fit and function.

With so many contested "its not bone" reviews on the internet I was a little apprehensive (well, not really considering the cost). Got it in one day. I ordered it as a replacement for the plastic nut on my Yamaha CSF1M Parlor. I can say this one is bone and had a nice "clink" to it with the drop test. I can give the exact measurements as received but for all intents and purposes any variances from the advertised specs were negligible. First I removed the plastic nut and took exact measurements. I then sanded the DISENS nut to size, the bigger material removed being width(?) - front to back. I was apprehensive of the height as the DISENS was approx .5mm shorter than the plastic stock Yamaha nut, but being I had substantial clearance between nut and the first 2 frets I figured worse case scenario would be a tiny shim under the nut. After fitting the nut I actually had very little nut filing to do in the pre-slotted string slots, mostly just a few swipes and away we went. The shorter height of the DISENS actually worked to my advantage.I am pretty pleased with this product, considering cost. If I can offer any advice it is don't expect this or any other nut on the market to be a drop in replacement. There are a lot of bad things that can happen if you launch into a nut replacement without proper preparation, tools and some guidance (be it personal or Youtube). Recklessly removing the old nut, for starters, can leave you wishing you didn't. Expect to need nut files or some suitable facsimile.

It's complete and on my Guitar.And now it sounds great.Just be careful and take your time when you shape it.

This nut just fit perfectly on my Epi SG and made a noticeable difference in the tone.

slots were too shallow for my build, easy fix for any experienced luthier but beginners should be aware
