Incorporated in 1898, the Colorado and Southern would acquire several smaller railroads to operate in Colorado along four narrow gauge lines until highways were built that could access the rugged terrain. Our Rocky Mountain Express set recalls the C&S trains that climbed the scenic Colorado peaks as the essential haulers for historic towns such as Black Hawk, Silver Plume, and Gunnison.
