Functionality: This does what it is supposed to do flawlessly. Weighing nearly 14 ounces gives it enough weight to conquer the toughest tenderizing jobs. NOW FOR THE DOWNSIDE ... Although it works as expected, I'm a perfectionist and this looks like junk. It looks like the machined piece was given to a 6 year old playing with his father's grind-wheel to finish. I don't expect any other piece from this seller to be any different, so I'm going to give it as a gift as intended along with a pocket full of apologies. Certainly not the quality piece I bought 30 years ago for my restaurant (still have)

This should literally last a lifetime. Great weight good size. Does the work for you if you know how to use it.

The media could not be loaded.  I expect it to be what the picture shows. I have used it twice already. Not just for the meat but also nuts and graham crackers.

Was much lighter weight than I anticipated. Bought as a gift thought it was similar to one I already use but sure wasn't.

This is a wonderful product. It is sized and weighted perfectly, with one flat side and one textured side. The handle is shaped well and comfortable - not too big, and not too small. It is one-piece cast aluminum, which will be very durable, as there are no pieces to separate to trap water.Don't let the concerns about "black soot" or a "coating coming off" deter you. It is (uncoated) non-anodized cast aluminum. Like any non-anodized aluminum, the minerals from the soap and the heat from the dishwasher will cause it to tarnish, resulting in being covered in a black haze. It will polish off, but the best way to avoid the haze is to hand wash it and dry immediately. You wouldn't put a cast iron skillet in the dishwasher. Don't put this there either.

This mallet is best geared towards a cook like me: a home cook that will be using it a modest amount rather than regularly. As other reviewers have noted, this is not the highest quality mallet you can buy. If you're looking for a mallet to use regularly, you're better off investing in a higher quality item. The mallet is a good size, has a good weight, and feels fairly sturdy. I used it on some butterflied chicken breasts the other night to even out the size and it certainly did it's job. This is decent if you just want to have one on hand for when you need it, but aren't looking for something that will last you forever or see constant use.

Great weight to it and outstanding job it does. Easy to clean. Just love to wack the meat.

This is the heaviest and largest meat mallet I have found. The extra weight and size makes flattening meats faster and easier.

I only used this product once and already the head is falling off

Pas solide et déteint, j'ai du le lavé mais sa fonctionne pas...Donc les grands moyen le trempé dans l'huile et sur une plaque au four 1 heure à 400f comme pour une poêle de fonte. On verra bien à la prochaine utilisation. Mais deçu pour le prix.

garbage. i haven’t even gotten to use it yet, no warning not to wash in dishwasher, so when it arrived i popped it in, when it was done i took out a very, almost black, mallet.....not impressed at all....don’t waste your money on this, would not recommend to anyone!

El producto es útil y parece ser resistente. La calidad de los acabados no es particularmente buena, pero compensa eso con su precio y la facilidad para lavarlo.Estaba en busca de un aplanador de carne para preparar schnitzels y estoy muy contento con este. A pesar de los problemas de calidad que mencioné anteriormente, no cambiaría este producto por otro, aún cuando existan otras opciones de mejores materiales.El precio es el punto diferencial. Yo lo compré a muy buen precio y, quizás por lo mismo, terminé gratamente sorprendido.
