Bet on yourself
Betting on yourself is probably the best strategy you can harness to achieve happiness today. Either you'll work on your own dreams or you'll work on someone else's. Your decision. In this book, Heather and Christopher will give you the inspiration and will show you the way on how to work on your own.I've read this book after Play Bigger. The idea behind Category Design iS the best one I've came up in the past few years in the realm of business, marketing and even personal development. This time, category design is approached under the lense of personal leadership and personal branding. We need you more than ever. Make yourself a favor and read that book

Not Niche Down Enough
The book itself is a little too much fluff and not enough substance. As a short book, it lightly touches on little aspects, but that is all it is. Light touches. I understand there is more to every story, but focusing on one or two instead of 20 - 30 in such a limited package waters down the message and the product. 10% was consumed by intros and outros, which means not much was placed on the real ideal on niche down.Still, it isn't a bad book. It has some good examples for people to inspect further. It would have been nice to have them dig deep on one and give us a breakdown on why it happened. The only thing it cost me was time as I managed to snag this while it was free. I wouldn't pay the full price for it though. Not enough content to warrant the asking price.

Take risks. Don't just try to be better - but try to be different.
Niche Down is easy reading that gives big returns on getting psyched to start something new - by Shaku Atre shaku@atre.comWith Niche Down, Christopher Lochhead and Heather Clancy challenge not-so-confident entrepreneurs to start living their dreams of taking risks and becoming their own bosses. The authors tease entrepreneurs to be different, not better, by starting a new category. By inventing a category no one else thought about, the category itself becomes a brand when others start copying the category. For example, they say:Most entrepreneurs follow competitors. Legends lead categories.Their formula is Category design = Make demandBranding = Fight for demandThis book is a must read for any entrepreneur.See:https://www.amazon.com/Niche-Down-Become-Legendary-Different-ebook/dp/B07FLKJJQQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1531808878&sr=1-6&keywords=christopher+lochhead&dpID=51SwUr2kbvL&preST=_SY445_QL70_&dpSrc=srchFor more information, refer to Chris and co-authors’ Play Bigger book. https://www.amazon.com/Play-Bigger-Dreamers-Innovators-Dominate/dp/0062407619/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8Shaku is an entrepreneur at her core who left a cushy job at IBM after 14 years and started her own data company. All her colleagues at IBM called her “crazy.” She knew data was the future. She became a partner at Price Waterhouse Coopers after PWC bought her very successful data company. After a couple of years, she left PWC, and has started other data businesses. She is an author of six successful database books, and now heads development of apps for 50+ seniors, a category on its own right, with a software lab in Pune, India implementing “Data Analytics.”

Own your different, become legendary, Niche Down!
If Play Bigger: How Pirates, Dreamers, and Innovators Create and Dominate Markets is the guide to becomming a legendary "Big E" entrepreneur, Niche Down is the guide to becoming a legendary "Little e" entrepreneur.Christopher Lochhead and Heather Clancy absolutley nailed it with this easy-to-read and more importantly, easy to understand journey to understanding how to Niche Down in your business. Many businesses fall into the trap of trying to be everything to everyone. I mean why not? Serve as many different people as possible, and you become more succesful! It makes sense, right?WRONG!You need to do the total opposite. Find the one thing that you do differently (notice I didn't say better) than anyone else. The one thing that sets you apart from the rest of the world. You need to Niche Down.If this sounds scary, fret not, as the dynamic duo of Lochhead and Clancey give you the groundwork on why it is so important to be different, rather than better, to become legendary. Next, they explain why you need to fall in love with the problem and provide a practical solution on how to solve that problem. When you do that, you can become known as the go-to gal or guy for that specific need - you OWN that niche!Own your different, become legendary, Niche Down!

An absolute essential
There is a lot of talk about niching down. Every coach, every business consultant teaches and talks about "create/ find your own niche". I got that advice too. And I thought after following the steps I have mine.Well, that was not at all the case. What I had was a broad category within a much broader category within my space. After reading Niche Down I think I understand what it really means. Now I begin that quest. The book is a very easy read with incredible examples of people who have created their unique place. Its inspiring and encouraging and breaks down the process through the examples very well.I say "I think I understand how to do it" only because finding ones niche is a creative process and must not be rushed.
