Absolutely the best tripod for the Nexstar SE or evolution series scopes.
After buying an equatorial wedge for for my nexstar 6se I determined that I needed a tripod that could take some additional weight and would provide a more solid foundation for my scope and wedge. While the stock tripod was fine for just the scope in alt/az configuration, I was leery of its ability to support the added weight of both pieces of equipment plus my camera. Upon finding this tripod I had some reservation as there was not a lot about it in reviews and it is a pricey upgrade. I was concerned that the lower legs would be held in place by plastic screw mounts like my stock tripod, I was overjoyed to see that they are solidly built cast aluminum pieces with good lever locks that should provide years of service. The legs meet the ground with gorgeously built machine aluminum "spikes" that should provide good bite into a variety of surfaces. In fact everything on this mount is solid, solid and solid. The accessory tray is solid and heavy, the leg braces are solid aluminum bars instead of the stamped channel steel I had feared. I could not be happier with this purchase and can't wait for first light tonight when I hope to take some long exposures. I would highly recommend this tripod to anyone who wants a solid, well built platform for their nexstar SE series scope. My suspicion is it would be awesome for any scope up to 9.25 in either the nexstar SE or Evolution line.

Incredibly Strong Tripod for Telescopes
Reasons for 5 stars:+ Extremely strong tripod+ Accessory tray is nice+ Excellent quality+ Folds up nicely- HeavyThis is an excellent tripod. I'm using it on a CPC 800 and it fits perfectly. I didn't receive my tripod when I ordered the telescope, so I purchased this one instead (reimbursed) and it is an amazing tripod. It's incredibly strong, it can easily hold more than the CPC 800 and I'm sure it's over engineered even for the CPC 1100. It does weigh a good amount though, as it is over 30 lbs. I don't mind the weight for a solid foundation to set the scope on. Extra weight also helps keep sway down from anything wind... or clumsiness.Great tripod, I would recommend this if you need a replacement for your current one. I'm not sure if it works on any other scopes than the Celestron CPC 800 or 1100 though.

watch for loose bolts
Received the tripod at the end of February. Only used a couple of times. Very sturdy and stable. A bit on the heavy side for this 80 year old body, but then what isn't.This morning I went to set it up and found that somewhere, somehow, the bolt that held one of the support legs had disappeared. They are special flat head screw bolt and receiver. Having to use a substitute. Check all bolts before you set this tripod up.I would have given it a 5 star before trying to set it up this AM.An update. Celestron promptly sent me 3sets of the proper fasteners

Great tripod, but…..,
Had to order this tripod when my Celestron CPC 800 telescope was delivered without the tripod component (shipment was supposed to come in two boxes, but the tripod box apparently ended up in some unknown location). Amazon offered to make amends by sending me this heavier duty tripod as a replacement since Celestron doesn’t sell the CPC 800 tripod as a separate stand alone item. The CPC 1100 tripod is a great item for the money (strong, sturdy, easy to use, albeit a bit on the heavy side for this 70 year old body) but if anyone is considering purchasing one, please don't be fooled by the promise of getting it in 5 days with no delivery fee versus 3 days for a nominal $7 delivery fee. My free 5 day delivery estimate soon turned into an 11 day wait because of transit delays (can anybody guess the name of the U.S. government run shipping service responsible?). Just pay the bloody shipping fee and get it on the Amazon date promised during checkout.

Perfect Replacement
Perfect replacement for my original Celestron mount for CPC 13. The original mount was over 15 years old. The new mount is unchanged from 15 years ago. It’s rock solid and meets all of my expectations.

They mean "heavy duty"
I needed a beefier tripod to support my Celestron Nexstar 8 SE and the new wedge I bought for it. The total weight of all that and the StarSense Autoalign camera I have is too much for the OEM tripod that came with my 8SE. Well, beefy is what I got. It is extremely stable even when the legs are extended to their limits. Sure, you get a big of wobble when you bump the legs but that is to be expected. But the wobbled is not nearly as extreme as with my old tripod. Extending the legs a minimal amount or not at all will give you an extremely stable platform for astrophotography. One feature I really like is the bubble level is built into the mount itself. I was always fearful of losing the bubble level that came with my old tripod. Not being permanently mounted meant it could get lost. Weight: It is heavy. Weighing in at around 27 lbs without the packaging. But that is to be expected. Overall, I am very satisfied with it and wish I had purchased it a long time ago.

Very sturdy tripod, supports all of my gear
This is a very heavy and sturdy tripod that supports all of my equipment with minimal vibrations that I got with the stock tripod. The only gripe I have is that the center support tray doesn't have holes for 2" eyepieces whereas the stock tripod for the 8SE does. Not a major issue but annoying enough to subtract a star.

Granitico e solido!
