Look no further if you're on the fetch on which beginner fountain pen to buy!
Like most people who are curious about what pen to get as a beginner, I searched the web and most blogs/reviews would point you to the $15 pilot metropolitan. It made sense, made in Japan by a reputable brand with thousands of reviews. There were mentions of this JINHAO x750 here and there, but it's made in China and it's only $5. It sounds cheap both in price and built quality. Seems like a no brainer, right?Well, I ended up getting 3 different beginner pens, the pilot metro, the TWSBI ECO and this jinhao x750. The pilot and TWSBI arrived first and I was totally underwhelmed. Sure the built quality is nice but they both are scratchy and write no better than a $2 gel pen.A week later the JINHAO x750 arrived from China, and without much expectation, the performance of the pen blew me away. I inked it with Noodler's eel ink and it starts writing smoothly without any priming. It performs admirably on cheap staples copy paper with ample ink flow verse the other two pens struggle except on nice and smooth hammermill #32 paper.Unposted, it fits fine in my slightly above-average large hand. Its all-metal body has a substantial weight yet not overly heavy writing unposted.Oh, and its nib is a true medium size, unlike the pilot and TWSBI which run a size too small (pilot's fine is way too narrow, I would not recommend unless that's your writing style).$5 JINHAO x750 pen together with a bottle of Noodler's ink ($12.5) run you $17.5, just 3 dollars more than the pilot (which comes with a single cartridge) and the ink will last you a long while (verse my pilot cartridge already ran out after writing 15 pages of journal, and I don't plan to re-order).Highly recommended that you simply order from a seller with prime shipping for $2 more so you can enjoy writing with it right away :)

Can this be real?
Wow! I got mine through Prime for about $5 but the price is highly variable. If you're willing to wait for weeks for them to come in from China, I see several sellers in China offering this pen for $3. Most of the Prime sellers are moving them for $5 to $9. The point is, this is an INSANELY cheap fountain pen, and you're probably wondering if it's worth a measly five bucks. I mean, how can anything that cheap write well if it's a fountain pen?I'm impatient, so I ordered mine from one of the Prime sellers. There's nothing fancy here, folks. No gift box or anything. It's just a classy looking metal pen that ships in a plastic baggie. The metal looks more like a brushed steel than chrome, with some small sections polished to a high shine. As a pretty much all-metal pen, it's got some weight to it. In fact, I probably wouldn't enjoy writing pages and pages of prose with this pen. But it's perfect for writing checks, signing things, anything you might need a really rugged pen that you can keep in your jacket pocket without worrying about losing. The cap pops off. It does post, but there's nothing but friction fit to keep it posted and the cap tends to pop off if I write with the cap posted. I'll have to get used to writing with it unposted. I've got really big hands, and this pen feels a little big, a little thick to me. The size, the weight, do make it a pen that fatigues my writing hand in a relatively short time. Don't let that discourage you from buying this pen; just understand you're not likely to write a novel with it.Once the cap is popped off, the body unscrews easily and an international converter is already installed. I filled mine up with Noodlers Ink 3Oz Black Swan In English Roses and immediately started writing. I filled a full page with no feeding issues. The nib is not awesome. But it's pretty amazing for a $5 pen.Nibs... this is the real magic feature that everybody wants this pen for. It takes the same No. 6 nibs that you see all over the place for vintage pens. I got my own Zebra Comic Pen Nib Type Professional G Model Titanium 10 Pack (PG-7B-C-K) to go with this pen. The old nib and feed come out basically as a friction fit, so you just have to pull on it to get it out. It's a little tricky getting everything lined up in terms of the nib and feed, and the pen body itself, but it's not rocket science. Check out YouTube; there are some great videos out there on this subject. The factory installed nib is NOT a flexible nib. With that said, you can get a decent amount of line variation out of this nib if you want to.If you're just thinking about buying this, it's a no brainer; get it. It's not a five star because of the weight & ergonomic shortcomings. But other than that, the build quality on this is pretty amazing. Nobody outside of fountain pen enthusiast circles will believe it's such a cheap pen!

Great pen for it's price
For this kind of price, the JinHao X750 is a great deal for just a couple of dollars. Although it isn't as luxurious or expressive as other beginner pens, it's hard to pass up the price.Remarks- Medium nib. Comparing it to the Pilot Metropolitan, it's only slightly larger than the Japanese Medium of Pilot nibs. As expected. Writes well.- Aluminum body is nice. It does add a fair amount of weight to the pen but still feels balanced. Posting the cap does make the pen very top heavy, though.- Overall build quality is nice. The aluminum body doesn't feel paper thin. This feels like a very sturdy pen.- Comes with an international size converter and no ink. You will have to either purchase international size cartridges or bottled ink.My only complaint, albeit a minor one- When posting the cap, it feels like I have to really force the cap on if I don't want it wiggling off when writing.

It’s good, but...
I have had this pen for 5 years and I enjoy it, but not as much as I do with my other 2 Jinhao pens.I have this, the X750, and 2 X450 and I prefer the X450 s more than this one. This isn’t saying the pen is bad, but it’s too heavy and doesn’t look as good as the other 2.The pen looks fine, but the weight is uncomfortable and unbalanced. The X450 are better balanced and feel much better in the hand. The nib works well and the Parker ink I use with the pen goes well with it.

Muy buena pluma
Impresionante, bonita y muy bien acabada, escribe suave y sin interrupciones y la tinta fluye perfectamente tas varios dias sin usar, si fuese de otras marcas mas conocidas costaria 10 veces mas cara

Good Pen
Normally, I'm a Sheaffer sort of guy but I thought I'd try something different since Sheaffer no longer makes the classic fountain pens they were once famous for. At first I thought I made a bad choice. The pen took months to arrive but that's the risk of over seas shipping. Then it looked as though the nib was too fine for my tastes but in using my Sheaffer Peacock Blue ink and giving it time (a couple days) the pen wrote superbly and I dare say as good as my old Sheaffer did. It is a bit top heavy so don't write with the cap on if it throws off your balance. The pen is durable and it hold the ink well. Not a leaker, and has a good smooth feel to it. Because the body isn't made of plastic you can take it camping, hiking, jogging.. anywhere almost, without worrying about it hitting the ground and shattering. I'm growing to love this pen. Plus the price is right. If you have the patience to wait for it get this pen. Good things come to those who wait! :)

Buena, bonita y barata
Compra bastante recomendada. Espero mi opinión sea útil, gracias por leerme!

A review and comparison with the X450
The media could not be loaded. The Jin Hao X750 is the more utilitarian version of the Jin Hao X 450 for being a little lighter and looking like a very sleek everyday carry pen. The writing experience is as good as the 450 with a bit of additional control due to lighter weight which in no means is to undermine the 450 which renders the same control after some practice. Both the X 450 and X 750 are superiorly built and are absolutely worth their price. The nibs in both are the same with the exception of the appearence and are just rightly smooth to provide the appropriate feedback for a feeling and control in writing and also with the perfect technique, if one possess, the nibs go towards being an artist's tool producing line variations that are delightful to the writer and adorable to the reader. Both can equally serve the purpose of both writing and being elegant and grand collection items that too at the most affordable prices. Stock and price should be maintained for both.
