Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Empire, Vol. 1

At first I was skeptical because it seemed that it just collected a bunch of random issues having to do with the rise of the empire. But I've thoroughly enjoyed it because most of the book is selected issues that follow two related story arcs. The whole volume reads like a giant TPB and I love it!

I have now become a fan of Marvel's Star Wars series because of this trilogy! The dialogue, and interactions, of the characters is almost exactly as it would be in the movies! As a plus, the artwork is fantastic!

This entire volume beginning to end is absolutely great. Dark horse had some of the best writers and artists on its star wars titles. Reissued under the marvel/Disney banner, these stories are all well worth reading.

Absolutely brilliant volume for any star wars fan seeking more context to the already superb saga. This volume in particular gives us exceptional insight into an early Vader transitioning into his role as a Sith Lord. His former self, Anakin Skywalker, still not entirely destroyed within. We're presented with a tormented and angry Vader who is shown to be ruthless and yet mysteriously vulnerable. The art work is superb and varied, using several different techniques. Each story is a suitable size, meaning you can pick the book up and down when it suits you. I don't often read graphic novels, but I'm very impressed with this one. The price tag may seem hefty, but considering the amount of stories collected in chronological order I think it's worth every penny. Will definitely be purchasing other volumes :)

Excellent collection. Marvel's initiative to put together in a chronological order the previously released books is a winner and this volume has, in my opinion, some of the best stories in the Legends series.

These stories capture the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith beautifully. The quality is amazing, and even those that don't center on a broken Vader are a bloody good read. If you are a fan of Star Wars, or comics in general, these Epic Collections are for you!!
