This is not one of those flimsy felt costume hats. It definitely keeps its shape, is very sturdy and light. So comfortable to wear. Has an elastic band so it fits most and fits great over a wig. Looks great for my Slash costume!

I got it as a prop, for that i say its great. For actually wearing comfortably? Idk, probably gonna feel wierd. But its a great stage piece. In my opinion.

For the price, this is a great top hat. Fits my 10 yr old who likes to play magician, though the crown is wide even for most adults making it look a little goofy. Like others have written, the collapsible mechanism did fall out but I took out some of the stitching on the inside fabric lining so I could see how it works and found that it could easily be put back into place--see photo.

Hat is very nice, but us big and heavy

I had ordered this hat because my theater company was doing a production of Sweet Charity and a hat that pops open was required for the show. The hat I received is a beautiful hat made of velvet with a silk ribbon trim. It has a wide inner spandex band that holds the hat on tightly. It is a great hat, unfortunately it does not POP like the hat in the play is supposed to. It does fold down into a flat hat but it took me about five minutes to figure out how to unfold it and make it into a top hat. At first I thought it was broken, but once i figured out how to unfold it, it turned into a beautiful top hat. It is very sturdy, but the hat is too heavy and the brim not sturdy enough for a dance hat, so it is not useful for our show. Because the hat was so beautiful I decided to keep it anyway as we will probably use it in a future production.

This is a wonderful hat! You could use it as Wonka or as a magician. It pops in and out, but does not lose its stiff shape when it is popped out. It has a nice, soft velvety feel to it with a satin band around the bottom. The price was great for it.

Do not buy this - it broke the second time I popped it open. I need this for a dance to "If They Could See Me Now", the hat trick, opening up and closing it is essential and this is my second purchased hat that poorly made and broke within the first 10 minutes of use. Thank goodness Amazon will refund money spend on these low quality products.

This hat worked perfectly for my son’s ‘Wonka’ costume. Such great quality!!
