Ultra-Fab Products 48-979020 Receiver Mount Protector, Black

Make sure you have at least 1 inch clearance on each side of the pin hole. I had to return the receiver mount protector because I only had 1/4 inch clearance on the rear side of the pin hole. I have three hitches and this protector would not fit any of the three. In each case the brackets where the chains from the trailer connect were to close to the pin hole. There is not problem with receiver mount protector, it is well built and I wanted to use it so bad but it won't fit all hitch receivers.

The receiver mount fits the receiver but the wheel tends to dig into the asphalt and not roll as expected.

Works on only 1 of the four trailer I have around, without some sort of modification. Either where the safety chain's hook up or the thick strip of steel about 1" wide wrapped around the end of the hitch. Either the hole won't line up for the pin,or the safety chain hooks that are welded to the hitch, will not let you use it. I was lucky it fit the right vehicle and nice.

Two big issues!(1) I purchased this Ultra-Fab Products 48-979020 Receiver Mount Protector based on generally positive reviews about its stout construction. I also thought it was great that a Zerk grease fitting was included in the design. As indicated in the instructions (see image), step 4 is "Grease skid roller bearings through the zerk fittings before use". Since I don't own a grease gun, I took the unit to my car mechanic and asked him to pump in some grease. He found that it would accept absolutely no grease! Why? Because there is no internal passage leading from the Zerk fitting to the bearings! Crazy, huh? Why put a Zerk fitting on a part that does no good. Also, there is just one (worthless) Zerk fitting, not multiple, as suggested in the instructions. My mechanic had to take it apart and grease the bearings manually.(2) Here's another beef: The largest pin diameter that one would use (see table) is 5/8" but the hole in this device 3/4" which allows it to tilt back and forth a lot. It will probably still work, but dudes, come on; why not just use the standard 5/8-inch hole? If I hear it rattling around back there, this will drop to a two-star rating.

Used once and its already broken, wheel does not turn and never worked the one time I tried to use it.

A big problem with vehicles with long rear overhangs (RV's!) is that going to/from a driveway from/to the street can cause dragging of the rear of the RV. This roller prevents that scraping damage. I thought it would be bigger but it doesn't really need to be larger to do its job.

I have a C class motorhome, I put this on the end of the trailer hitch, Instead of the trailer hitch digging into the street, this lifted up the motorhome and cause no damage.

Haven't actually needed it yet, but it is built solidly. I like that it has a lubrication fitting to keep it moving and water out.
