Great solution for an annoying problem!
I have a .45 rifle with fixed iron sights. The length on the top rail was about 3 1/2" long, so I was a little limited on length as well as being able to use my iron sights for a riser. I also had to buy a 1/2" riser to set this one on top of. Granted, there's more hardware on top than I wanted, but I'm OK with it. Now, I can use both my fixed iron sights & my scope. Love it, it also works well on my .22 rifle with no problem. Just a word of caution.....don't overtighten the screws & use the proper width of a screwdriver. The wrong size screwdriver will cause the slot on the screw to start to strip. Also, put Loc-Tite on the threads & you'll be fine.

Great Base for M249 and M240B. These are Really Well Made
This mount works perfectly to raise and cantilever optics back over the iron sights on both the M249 and M240B. I'm talking about the real thing here. I have purchased 4 and have not had a failure. A lot of this Chinese stuff is really weak but not so this base.
