Little Blue Truck board book Board book – Picture Book, July 7, 2015

Excellent book. The rhythm is fun and easy to read aloud, the illustrations are attractive to look at and have lots of detail to go into with preschoolers (can you point out the sheep? how many toads are there? etc.), it has a plot line (a must for books you read over and over and over and over again) and the material is sturdy. Our son isn't quite old enough to gnaw on the pages yet, but we're spilled things on it and it's been shoved in and out of diaper bags and is holding up very well so far. I enjoy the larger size as it's easier to hold aloft to read to infants that are laying down while still being able to see the words. This is already a family favorite and I anticipate many years of readings ahead. The truck must swear like a sailor though; they had to beep out the entirety of his dialogue!

I can not say enough good things about this book and artist. The narrative is told in a rhythm of rhymes bringing the reader through a rural area learning about kindness. The Little Blue Truck teaches children about the importance of being kind and how one act of kindness can cause a rippling effect among those around you. We love to talk about the animals and their sounds as we look at the beautiful illustrations which light up every page of this book. There are pages that I just am amazed by the paintings and how lively they are. My child enjoys hearing me read this story often and I do too. Great message. The book is made with a thick cardboard making it difficult to bend or be ruined by young children learning about books for the first time. It's a great size too. We like to throw it in the back pack or in our over night bag when going out of town.

We’ve had this board book through four kids now, it is awesomely durable, and the story is always a favorite!

If you do a lot of reading to your kids, you'll quickly learn that there are a lot of "poem" books, and they can be nice since they're more fun to read out loud than prose, but plenty are atrocious because the authors somehow didn't know that poetry requires meter to work as well as rhyme (to say nothing about the tons of poem books out there with horrible approximate rhymes).That in mind, "Little Blue Truck" is an absolute pleasure to read because its rhymes work and most of all because its meter is flawless; it almost begs to be sung it flows so well.The content is simple and uncontroversial, though I would mildly object to the implication that someone with "big important things to do" is wrong for not taking the time to chit-chat with everyone.

With our local grandchildren grown, this book was new to me when we visited our younger grandsons out of state. This was the favorite book of the 3 1/2 year old, and also my favorite. Wonderful rhyming story with fabulously perfect illustrations (watch for the frog!) and also a wonderful message. We've bought several copies for friends and just sent a copy to another friend whose first grandchild is due soon. I highly recommend it, and also its sequels. All very well done.

I can't even explain how awesome this book is. Not only does it teach a good lesson to your child, it is tremendously fun to read. The challenge is to read it without singing it. With no music (obviously) and no song to model after, I can guarantee that you will be singing to the exact rhythm that is supposed to be used!In not the only one in love with this book though. My 14 month old son is a huge fan! I have been reading this book to him regularly since he was about 4 or 5 months old. I expect to continue reading it for at least another 2-3 years! The only things that might get in the way of that are the many sequels for this book.This is am absolute must have for a child's book collection! You will get at least 4 or 5 years out of this one book!

And my son likes it a lot too lol. The pictures are artfully done, the rhyming, rhythm & flow all work together to make it an easy read, the moral of the story is great and I like that the book itself has character (ex: "...big important wheels got stuck.")I only bought it because a lot of people in a toddler group I'm in had recommended it (I wasn't familiar with it before I ordered it), but I'm really glad that I took their suggestion because this is one of the few books by son has that I don't mind reading multiple times a day.

The kids love this book and the rest of the collection, makes a great baby gift.

My daughter has a speech delay so we're trying to find more ways to prompt her to vocalize her words. This book was recommended by speech therapists since there are several repeatable words that urge children to speak. Beep is the main word, but lots of animal sounds like Moo, Cluck, Neigh, Croak, Baa, and the dump truck's Honk. This was the first time I've heard my daughter say "Honk" after just a few days of reading this book to her. Now she knows how to say all the words, and it's become a practice exercise for us. She giggles after she says the words because my face lights up hearing her seldom heard voice.The story itself is fun and shares the lesson of being courteous and friendly because you never know when you'll need help from friends.

I just love this book, as well as my 3 years old kid. The illustrations are awsome, and the story is a great lesson on the importance of friendship, kindness and teamwork, just what every child needs. I fully recommend it!

I first got this book for my son when he was about 15 months old and he did not have the patience for me to read through so many sentences of the book.My son turned out to be a big fan of vehicles and I decided to try this book again when he was about 30 months old. This time the book instantly hit a cord with him. His eyes shine up the moment I turn the page and dump truck appears and he shouts histerically 'HONK'. He loves how the BIG dump truck comes through and has big important things to do. My son and me speak each sentence with heavy voice to give that air of importance to the dump truck.Then when the important truck gets stuck, my toddler says 'Oh Oh, the truck is stuck- what can we do now'. He loves how LITTLE blue truck comes to help the BIG dump truck and how everybody hears little blue's BEEP BEEP BEEP. He loves repeating 'A lot depends on a helping hand from a few good friends'.In fact in these two months, he had made me read the book zillions of times and now he knows each sentence by heart. So many times, I have seen him reciting the entire book to himself like a poem and jumping with euphoria. Even when we go for a walk he pretends to be dump truck that gets stuck in every tiny puddle of the road and I become little blue truck who has to push with all its might.

My son loves this book - actually every LBT book but this in particular is what what made him fall in love with this series.

Libro davvero molto bello che con semplicità e allegria tratta temi interessanti come la gentilezza e l'amicizia.Lo consiglio vivamente! Noi lo leggiamo alla nostra bimba di due anni e mezzo e lo ascolta volentieri anche la piccola di nove mesi.
