Awesome Sounding Portable FM Radio / MP3 player
I really like this radio. It's the perfect size to take on vacations or for casual listening around the house. The radio is smaller than it looks in the picture, it's about the size of a compact digital camera or an ipod classic (and weighs about the same). The sound is much better than what you would expect from such a small radio thanks to its neodymium speaker. These rare-earth speakers have stronger magnetic fields so are able to produce better sound at lower power levels. Frequency response is a bit light on the bass, but full across mid-range and highs. One problem with small portable radios is what do you do with the antenna. This radio solves the problem by putting the antenna in the plastic hand leash. Reception is actually pretty good given that the hand leash is only about 6 inches long. In my area I was able to pick up some 20 stations using the very automatic tuning system (ATS) on the radio. This is probably 90% of the stations that my home stereo system (which has a much bigger 6 feet dipole antenna) is able to pick up. Using the keypad I can manually tune in to the weaker stations, and they do come in with some static, which is probably why the ATS system did not register them in the first place. The display on this radio is very nice. It's a high contrast back-lit orange on black LCD. To save batteries you can turn off the display by pressing the "1" key (a nice design feature). The display includes a battery gauge which lets you know when to recharge. This radio is rechargeable using a mini-usb port on the side. The use of the standard mini-usb port is nice because these cables are commonly available if you should forget bring it or lose it. The radio comes with a charging cable but no charger. The thinking is probably that you could plug the cable into the usb port on your computer for recharging or use the one that came with your cell phone. The radio uses a commonly available cell-phone battery (I believe its the Nokia BL-5 battery) which is included. Flat cell-phone batteries are generally more compact and powerful than AAA batteries. I haven't timed how long the battery lasts but I would guess its probably good for a few weeks of casual use. This radio is also an MP3 Player / Recorder. You load your mp3 files on a micro sd card and put it into the slot, flip the switch to MP3 and the files start to play. You can pause it, skip it, go back, etc using the buttons on the front. There is also a record feature that allows you to record from the radio or the microphone on the radio. (the radio doesn't come with a micro sd card so you'll have to order it separately. It supports up to 32 gb size cards). It looks like someone put some thoughts into button placement. The on/off switch is placed by itself on the top of the radio and has a ridge on it so that you can easily find it in the dark. The volume control is on the side and unlike a lot of digital electronics these days, it's actually analog so you can quickly change volume. The tuning buttons are below the volume button and placed on the side so that again they can be found in the dark by touch. There is very little not to like about this radio. One thing it would have been nice to have would have been an alarm feature or a sleep timer, but I understand that probably due to cost and size considerations, trade-offs had to be made. Also, the leash/antenna looks like it would be difficult to replace if they frayed over time or was accidentally pulled out.In short, if you are looking for a portable radio that plays mp3 files and you don't need AM or short-wave, then you can stop looking. This radio sounds great, looks nice, and is reasonably priced.

Works great, built-in speaker sounds great for its size, can review/rewind not just track jump, display is quite limited
Review for: Tescun Q3 Mini Size MP3 Player, FM Radio and Voice/Radio RecorderDoes everything it says it does. The look grows on you I like it, I got the blue one. If you are looking for a small FM radio or mp3 player with a built-in speaker for a competitive price, this is a winner so far.SOME PROS:------------(1) You can rewind or fast forward within the tracks by holding down the buttons which many others in this class don't do, or of course you can skip back and forth from track to track by just hitting the buttons.(2) The sound is really good for a relatively little thing like this, both the speaker and with headphones.(3) It remembers where you were in a mp3 track when you shut it off and starts-off within a second of that spot next time you play.SOME CONS:------------(1) This probably isn't very water resistant as you might expect.(2) I wouldn't expect this to hold up to running abuse like many mp3 players are designed to handle, though I doubt many would get this one for that purpose.(3) It doesn't show you the name of the song or track or file you are playing on the display, just a number 1, 2, 3.. etc. when playing mp3 recordings. It does give you the radio station numbers, of course, when playing the radio.(4) It doesn't record as high quality as I would prefer, but most people would be very hard pressed to tell the difference.(5) My first one shorted out, as determined by the battery being completely drained and a new battery not resolving the issue. I got my money refunded by Amazon and I bought a replacement quickly without any issues.BATTERY:----------The replacement battery is the BL-5B.WHO IN U.S. TO CONTACT:--------------------------If you want to talk to someone in the U.S. about an issue, the company is:Kaito Electronics, Inc.5185 Cliffwood Dr.Montclair, CA 91763Main#: 1-909-628-6088Service:service@kaitousa.com1-866-524-8676Hope that helps someone :).
