can I run a line from my router to the switch, then from switch to receiver, blue ray, xbox 360 and Xbox1? will xboxs run ok? dont need both on togthr
Is one of the 5 ports used to connect to the router, so that only 4 are available for other device use? Thanks.
On this product I can choose unmanaged (cheapest), unmanaged plus (middle price) or unmanaged click ( most expensive). What are the differences?
Does this send 1Gbps speeds per port or is it divided between all devices connected? I'm not sure how to tell.

Rock-solid, plug-and-play network switch

I bought a NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS105NA) more than 4 years ago, plugged it into my network (connecting my router and a few other devices via ethernet, including a computer, a TV, and a Nintendo Switch), and that was that: It. Just. Worked. And it has never stopped working! Without any fumbling about with settings or having to worry about ports dying or dropped connections etc. (knock on wood). This discreet little unit runs 24-7 without a hitch, and without any advanced set-up or mataintenance being needed. Exactly what one wants from an unmanaged switch!Recently I tried switching to a 2.5G switch from another brand. Theoretically this should've sped my network up tremendously, since I now have a router and multiple devices that support 2.5G ethernet... However, the new router turned out to be nothin' but trouble, and ultimately I had to put this good ol' Netgear 1G back into service instead, to keep the Internet and local services running properly for everyone in the house. This made me appreciate just how trouble-free and reliable this quiet, affordable, unassuming little switch has been all of these years. Thus this review. Hopefully Netgear's 2.5G switches are as good as this old warhorse.

Simple and It Works, No Fuss

It works. Just plug everything in turn on the power switch and it does exactly what it's supposed to. No fussy user interface or other junk. Such a relief to hook something up and have it work without stress. That is a very rare thing these days. Ran a speed test and it doesn't slow any device down. Also compliant with Cisco's ultra picky AnyConnect VPN and ISE. That is to say it didn't cause any errors or network security issues. Robust, simple metal case that can be mounted. All around just what I wanted.

Works like a commercial switch in a small package

The NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch (GS105Ev2) is an excellent addition to my home setup. It’s compact, easy to install, and works flawlessly right out of the box. All five ports offer lightning-fast gigabit speeds, which has significantly improved my network's performance for gaming and streaming. The managed features are a bonus for those who want more control over their network. If you need a reliable and affordable switch to expand your home or small office network, this is a great choice!

Perfect & Powerfuml Switch for non tech folks

This is a perfect switch if you want to expand your home or small business network. If you want to plug in multiple devices to your existing network then this device is for you.I am giving this product a 5 stars for the reason below:1. Plug and Play. Absolutely no programming or setup required.2. Percect device for novices users and non IT/computer users like me. Again...no setup required. Just plug in your devices and you will be automatically connected to your LAN.3. Excellent quality build. The entire unit looks and feel high quality. Case is metal and device is heavy. No cheap plastic and lightweight feel.4. Netgear is a reliable and makes excellent switches. I have a 10/100Mbs 5 port netgear switch that I bought in 1999 to use in my college dorm to get multiple computers to a single network port in my dorm. I still have this switch 18yrs later and it is still 100% operational. In matter of fact I bought this 8 port to replace my 18yrs old switch. I am only upgrading because i wanted 1000Mbs speee and more ports. Some misc tips for novices/non tech folks.1. If your house is built after 2004 and was originally wired for telephone lines throughout your house then you already probably got either cat5e or cat6 cables installed already. Electrician will use cat5e/cat6 cables to wire your house for telephone use because they are just as cheap as regular telephone line and more readily avaiable. Therefore, no need to run ethernet cables. Just pull apart your telephone wall plates and verify.I hope this review helps.

Simple upgrade for our home network

The house we bought had a built system to facilitate lan connections throughout the house but only offered 4 connection ports when we had 6 rooms prewired. Simple tool to help facilitate that. Accommodates GIG speed. Noticeable difference in the rooms connected. Taking pressure off the wi-fi also is a plus as speeds there have increased. Easy upgrade. Performs as expected.
