Works as Advertised on Mac
I used it to record dozens of videos from old tapes directly from the recorder (90s Sony) and OBS. It delivered exactly what it said, the quality was the same as what was on the tapes but it looked better after recording. I have zero complaints, the instructions are clear but there is a component that I don't understand what it is used for but I didn't really look because it was clear I didn't need to use it - some type of connector for a device I don't have. I would recommend this device. You can also use it to stream video to your computer from any older device with RCA-video or S-Video outputs (audio is stereo RCA), a useful device.

Works like a charm
I've been using it with OBS to digitize VHS tapes. It's working very well so far. Some tapes have jitter, and having a VCR with a time base corrector (TBC) has been helpful. Unfortunately, some tapes are not viewable. I'm not sure if its an NTSC/PAL problem or because I'm using an industrial deck which doesn't read the crappy speed at which these were recorded. All the problems are likely attributed to tape/VCR as opposed to this device. This device is a simple analog to digital video converter. Shows up as a "cam" on the computer.

It was almost plug 'n play
This video capture device was very easy to use. Plug it into the output from your VCR (RCA cables included). Plug into your Mac. Open QuickTime and the image is there. Since I was capturing not-very-HD material, my imaging expectations were low. Have not tried it on copyrighted material, so I don't know how that would go, but on VHS tapes I made myself a long time ago, it was fine.

Works well with Windows 10
This is an excellent device. It works well with Windows 10, including the May 2020 Windows update (v2004). A nice feature is that the device is plug and play with Windows 10, i.e., it automatically retrieves and installs the necessary hardware drivers when plugged in to the computer. For some reason, this seems to be an uncommon trait for video capture devices. Another uncommon trait with this device is that it does not come with its own (unnecessary) proprietary software for video editing. Instead, you can use any suitable software that is not hardware-specific, but the device manual recommends using the free, open-source OBS Studio, which, in my opinion, is excellent. Although I am new to OBS, I have used other proprietary video editing software for over ten years and was happy to switch. OBS can probably be used with any brand of video capture device.

Brought new life to old Camcorder
Due to Covid, an organization to which I belong was forced to move its annual conference to a different location--one that does not have the built-in video conferencing equipment we normally use. We were looking at buying an expensive ($800+) webcam with optical zoom lens, which could sit at the back of the auditorium and zoom in on the speaker. Then I read that I could use my old (early 2000's) camcorder for this, since it outputs video and has an optical zoom lense All I needed was this video capture card. I was skeptical. But it worked perfectly! No software downloads were needed. I just plugged the s-video cable from the camcorder into the video capture card, then plugged the card into my mac (USB 2.0). And there was the video! I also tested it with the composite video cables, and it worked great; although I'll use s-video for a slightly crisper picture. This saved me almost $800.

Works as promised.
I bought this to transfer VHS to .mp4. The setup instructions are worthless. I went online and watched some instructional videos about setting up and optimizing the video quality. I recommend it.

Remarkably Easy
After viewing the recommended YouTube on uploading and using the free OBS software, this connector made it remarkably easy to upload 10 hours of 8mm videotape to my computer. No glitches or difficult problem solving. Note that the RCA video connector to link the capture card to your VCR or camcorder is included. Also note that you can only record in real time, so if you have 100 hours of video, it will take 100 hours to record it to your computer or hard drive.

Does a great job of digitizing VHS tapes
I used this to digitize a VHS tape of a family event. It worked flawlessly. Don't let the use of free 3rd party software concern you. It was easy to use and capable of producing almost any video file format you need. I used this on an iMac with 16gig of memory and a 2Tb hard drive.

Doesn't work properly
Just forget it if you care about quality (and why wouldn't you?).It can't decode PAL (the UK VHS standard) so down converts everything to the NTSC standard of 480i, lowering your already (by today's standards) resolution.Add to that a buggy app, with frequent frame drops, and the end result is a horrible looking transfer. There's not much choice in the VHS/analogue source-to-digital transfer equipment anymore now that most people already transferred their old tapes back in the 2000s DVD Recorder boom. These so-called capture card devices are far too cheap to have decent chipsets inside them and there's too much margin for user error in the messy software required. So, what's the solution for transferring VHS to digital files? It's somewhat complex but results in excellent quality every time: buy a second hand name brand DVD recorder (LiteOn, Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer and LG were the best - the LiteOn and LG both had a special chip which removed a lot of VHS noise and are good VFM. The LGs are often rebranded Hitachi).Either watch the DVDs from that or rip those DVDs to your computer and convert the DVD’s MPEG2 files to MPEG4 video for USB devices or streaming/sharing (fairly easy with freeware like VLC).Hope that helps, because this device doesn’t!

Does not output a steady picture for recordings played from VHS player and Canon Camcorder
I struggled for a few days to get this to work, trying the gadget on two different laptops running Vista and Win 10.Output from my camcorder, a well functioning Canon UC8000E, and Samsung VHS Video Tape player/recorder, also working properly, resulted in an insane jumping of the picture in frame, this was continuous, thus destroying any chance of making a record of my precious tapes, making them un-watchable. On the plus side, the direct STREAMING output from the camcorder was not affected and the frame was clear and still. Sadly, this was not a function I could use. I re-installed software and updated drivers a number of times and tried tried three different softwares for the output, in case there was a fault there in the OBS browser, but on each one the jumping frame was always present. Such a shame. This item appears well made and arrived swiftly...there was no mini-cd enclosed, but I was able to download what I needed directly anyway. There are a number of competitive versions of this out there..ALL of them from China, and I will think twice before ordering another version. I might just go very cheap and hope for the best! Good luck if you are trying to archive old tapes. It's a bit of a minefield out there!

Works with limitations to watch sky Q in window of your PC
Bought so I can watch sky Q in a window when using my computer whilst others watch on the tele. The sky mini box has a separate video/audio output that can be plugged into composite cables with a converter cable supplied by sky. This can be used at the same time as the HDMI cable output is plugged into the television. It’s not totally perfect though depending upon your perfections. There is a time lag. The picture and sound from the device after being processed by the computer does not sync with the actual television. However, if you are out of earshot and eyeline of the television you can of course sync the picture with the sound on the actual computer and then be completely unaware of this occurrence. This is easily done in VLC which is my preferred video playback software.Another slight disappointment was the picture quality. Whilst I have decided that it is adequate for my desired usage (to keep watching television or sky recordings in a window whilst I am working) I don’t think you would use it as a complete alternative. The picture is good but has a slightly blurred picture quality which can clearly be seen when any words appear on screen. I would have to caveat though that this may be my setup, limitations in what I am trying to achieve or sky limitations and may not be the total fault of the product.Overall, I am happy as it does adequately what I wanted to do. I had no problems that others have reported. Mine worked out of the box, with no drivers to load, first time. I am using a new desktop running the latest Windows 10.

Vhs to digital - not as simple as they say.
Be careful, you CANNOT just plug into your old vhs and record. You need a compatiable vhs with TBC (Google it), or an equivalent picture stabilizer. As vhs is now defunct this is difficult or expensive. The free OBS software is brilliant screen capture I have used before. So since buying this I have recorded off vhs but the picture bounces all over the place so I am looking how to fix this before this product becomes a White Elephant!
