Quiet and effective
Super quiet compared to generic sub $100 models out there. If you value your hearing and or the ability to have a conversation in your back yard this is a good choice

Does a great job drawing air and was easy to install
I'm using this fan in a mid-size open ceiling studio space. While this fan is a little noisy (a little louder than the average box fan), it is definitely worth it for the immediate relief from the heat. Does a great job drawing air and was easy to install.

Good fan, thermostat has issues
The unit is well-constructed and easy to install. I added the 72W speed control, which makes quite a bit of difference to the noise level: at some speeds (including full speed), there is an annoying resonance in the fan blades, but a slight change makes it go away.As other reviews have noted, the thermostat is problematic. There are basically two settings: never turn on, and never turn off. I'm not sure there is an actual problem with the electronics used, but there really needs to be an option to locate the thermostat somewhere besides hard-bolted to the fan housing: in most applications, that will result in it "seeing" artificially-high temperatures due to heat conducted from the motor and/or sunlight hitting the dome/frame. I will probably make this mod myself once I have cooler weather to work up in the attic; in the meantime, I've just set the thermostat to 70F (which makes it run more or less all the time) and am using the speed control to turn it on/off manually.

I've been very happy with the Broan Roof Mount Attic Fans
I've been very happy with the Broan Roof Mount Attic Fans. This is probably the 5th or 6th one to go into theoriginal mount over the 29 years that we've had the house. The owner before had had the fan mounted as part ofa remodel. I just swap out the motor/fan/thermostat assembly from the new one and then go to the roof andreplace the dome. This model is better having an aluminum dome compared to the plastic dome most models have.Be sure to actually use the guide on Broan's website to ensure proper capacity for your application and enoughintake flow through eave and gable vents.

Worked Great Now Nothing
Update: 1 year later. Turned it on for summer run. Nothing. Checked wiring. 120 VAC right to the motor leads. Nothing. Not good. Will be contacting Broan.I installed this in my attic on the roof and it's worked great to cool my attic during record breaking temperatures.. I have it hooked to a Inkbird WiFi ITC-308 Digital Temperature Controller Thermostat which is mounted in our closet below the fan. It maintained my attic at about 120 degrees at 108 degrees exterior temp. Much better than the 130+ temps we used to see at a lot less than 108. I've already noticed a decrease in my electricity bill as central A/C unit runs less now. It is a little noisy but not bad. From our upstairs bedroom, the humming sound it makes is equivalent to our dryer running downstairs. I'm not using the fan's thermostat so I can't give a rating on it.Overall: Excellent!

3 years in service and working great. Evacuates a very warm attic
Replaced with a new roof, a 23 year old Broan unit that had died.3 years in service and working great.Evacuates a very warm attic, and we added ridge line vents which assists as well.We have it on a on/off switch in the master closet in case we want it off ... curb the light noise at bedtime (off rarely used).

Bunch of hot air
I bought one and installed about 6 years ago. It stopped running, not sure why. Haven’t inspected it yet. I suppose that is what one can expect, but when you go through the trouble of wiring something on your roof you want it to last. I’m not fond of going on the roof. I am going to change to a passive turbine and install whole house attic fan and gain some functionality, and cost.

It was hard to find a power roof vent fan.
We have had a power attic fan for many (20+ years). When the fan failed I had difficulty finding a new one but finally went on line and bought one from Amazon which was the only Canadian Source. Installation went well and I had the electrician install an on/off switch on an interior wall so we can control when the fan is on or off depending on the weather. I am happy with the project and the fan is keeping our attic relatively cool and reduces the air conditioning load.GordonB

Works great. Silent and pulls a lot of air. Good Rain protection
Both Fan and Casing are built well. Fan runs quiet and pulls a lot of air.We live in Pacific North West, in a Region that gets a Ton of Rain. Having borne quite a few winter storms, we've had no water seepage from angled windy rain. That was a concern for us since we mounted it pretty close to the ridge of our roof.Few installation tips.1. If you have a tile roof, it's easiest to install it over the 1x4 underlayment and fill the gap (thickness of the 1/4 between fan casing and roof plywood) with a foam filler. This creates a tight internal seal.2. Unit comes with a thermostat that is mounted on the fan itself, which is removed easily. We did this for 3 reasons.a) The thermostat is in the path of the wind. This reduces airflow and causes dust to accumulate on the thermostat box.b) It is safer to use a firestat. A fire stat has a break away fuse if it detects a fire (high temperature). This is important as you don't want the fan to "Turbo- Boost" the Fire that is burning your house down.c) We installed this firestat at the highest portion of the attic, to get the highest temperature in the roof. We wanted it a little away from the fan so that wind chill (from the fan) wouldn't drop the temperature temporarily and keep cycling the fan on and off all the time. Fans are designed to run continuously and the major wear is in the start stops. So this way you get better regulation of whole Attic temperature and not just the immediate vicinity of the fan.In the

Overall Satisfied
The product was sent promptly but received damaged. A replacement was promptly sent, and the pick up of the defective product. The fan was installed and does a good job of cooling the attic. The thermostat makes it easy to set and forget. Only down side was the colour did not come in black.
