Beautiful Cookbook
This is a beautiful book to read, with lovely pictures and tasty food! Includes a very nice variety. Recipes are given by dosha and are followed up at the bottom of each with adaptions. For example if youre a pitta, and the recipe is for vata it provides you with recomendations/replacements. Reading this part of the book alone will give you a good idea of whats best for your constitution. Its one of my favorite ayurvedic cookbooks, and for the above reasons i gave it 5 stars-it is after all a cookbook:)Where I found it lacking was the guidebook. Ayurveda is about the journey, not a hard line list of do's and don'ts. Additionally while many people are vegetarians, it isnt for everyone and there is a strong push, almost political in nature to do so. It is informative, but doesnt really allow for a person to take the journey, or think for themselves. However, everyone is different and if you perfer a strong list of do's and dont's, youll find this section helpful.For those just starting out I would recomend (also on amazon) "The Book of Ayurveda: A holistic Approach to Health and Longevity" which is easy to read and understand, and gives a nice rounded look at the ayurvedic lifestyle. Also would recomend Dr John Douillard's videos (detoxing ect) which include daily self massage, yoga and tips/grocery lists on seasonal eating. Also not to be missed is Dr. Vasant Lad's "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies."This book does not include a test for determining ones dosha, but an overview of each. These are helpful, but having a consultation with a practioner is recomended. Sometimes self testing can be wrong, and be more about an imbalance. I learned from experience! I did a self test and then had the pleasure of meeting an Ayurvedic practioner at my chiro's office during my last two visits to Washington State, an amazing experience! Needless to say I had it all wrong lol. Buy this book for the food, read the guidelines, remember its about the journey, and have fun!

Beautiful!
This book is fabulous. The beginnings of the book do a great job explaining and summarizing Ayurvedic theories and practices. The layout in my opinion is very user friendly. The pictures in this book are beautiful as well. It's a great book to reference when feeling under the weather or "not-all-yourself". Thinking about your energy in the form of the doshas can be life-changing--especially applying this to food. It does a good job explaining the effects of food (cooling foods, warming foods, airy foods, grounding foods, etc.). I like that recipes give readers options for altering them based on disruptions in doshas or dietary needs. My cousin was recently diagnosed with colitis. I gifted this book to him and he loves it!

Exactly what I needed
I had read another Ayurvedic book which was mostly nonsense and turned me off of the philosophy. I bought this book at the same time and after a month, I finally got around to reading it. THIS is what I wanted and needed. It's instructional and informative and makes sense. Only half of the book is a cookbook and even that's a stretch- it really is an introduction and overall guide to Ayurvedic living. Highly recommended for anyone new to the concept. If you're looking for a collection of recipes only, then I would look elsewhere.

Very user friendly and good recipes
I bought this used through Amazon and it is like new. Beautifully designed, well written, easy to use. I have several Ayurvedic cookbooks and this is my favorite!! I recommend this highly. Lots of good charts as well. I am fairly knowledgeable about Ayurveda and they have done a great job of education without redundancy. Great book.

A great introduction to Ayurvedic cooking and flavors
As we begin our Ayurvedic exploration, we were searching for a cook book that was both a blend of educational information and practical recipes that we could incorporate into our daily lives. This book has both.We are also fortunate that we can mind most, if not all, of the ingredients locally, even many spices here on Amazon if need be! And with a little extra time we can adjust the recipes by dosha per the recommendations at the end of each recipe so that every dosha can enjoy them.The meals are "approachable" and I want to try them because they look delicious. I thought I might have some troubles with all the new spices or flavors, but I think that this is a great introduction to the food and variety in Ayurveda.Good cook book if you are looking to try something new, or begin Ayu. I think bringing new balance to your diet is a good thing, and this might be just the ticket.Enjoy!

I recommend this book for an introduction to Ayurveda
My husband first bought this book for me in September 2011, as a cookbook, intro to Ayurvedic cooking, and the more I read it the more I came to appreciate it for an excellent introduction to Ayurveda. It is a truly quality book, well designed and thought out. Not only does it have many healing recipes, with easy to follow instructions, the book lays the foundation of how to use them in the foreground of the book before introducing the recipes. I have given this book as a gift and bought an extra to have on hand for gift giving.

Way more than what it looks like!!
SO much helpful, thorough information!! This is way more than just a cookbook :) the first half of it is basically an intro to Ayurveda, doshas, satvas, wellness practices, and more. I’m so excited to try these recipes!! Love it!!

Wonderful presentation providing good recipes
Gorgeous book with wonderful pictures and data on healing properties for the body mind and soul:) This alone is an incentive to keep reading using the book and practicing the recipes. I am looking forward to researching the suggestions and recording the results. Already an Ayurvedic fan which changed my lifestyle in eating & Shopping for my kitchen. Hopefully one way to beat the constrictions of Covid 19 pandemic repercussions and dodging total isolation yet again this year by being consumed with this new way of life:) Yes I would recommend this book to other keen creators in the kitchen.
