Great Sword!
I bought this sword, and it arrived a few days later. The sword itself comes in a cardboard box, with a Ryumon branded sleeve on top. Inside the box you will find everything as described, packed very well. The sword itself comes inside a nice burgundy coloured sword bag. The fittings Kashira (end cap), Fuchi (collar tab) and Tsuba (handguard) are all the same colour (a yellow brass colour) with a matching theme that has a thunder oni from Japanese mythology. The ito (tsuka wrap) is tightly wrapped with a silk like material with high quality Same (ray skin) underneath and gold coloured menuki. The saya (sheath) is piano black lacquer wood with a plastic lamination that features gold coloured sakura blossoms, it looks very nice. The koiguchi (sword throat), kojiri (scabbard tip) and kurikata (saya knob) are made from some bone material (buffalo horn?).The sword blade itself features a beautiful blade that is made from 1060 steel (58 edge HRC) with a full length bo-hi (blood grove) that has lovely hada (grain pattern) that has been folded and differentially hardened. The polish is reflective but not mirror, the kissaki (sword tip) is counter-polished and the yokote (dividing line) is cosmetic and not geometrical in any way (disappointing, but not uncommon). The mune (sword spine) is well formed and fits perfectly to the habaki (blade collar) which is very important. The end tip is well tapered and also counter-polished.I disassembled the sword and I can confirm it is full tang and did not have a cracked tsuka. The sword has a very sharp and well aligned edge which I tested cutting bottles (which were cut with ease) and tatami (bamboo mats) which are and still used to do tameshigiri (martial arts cutting) and the sword cut through them easily. All in all this sword is nothing short of amazing. An excellent display sword that can also cut anything (within reason).Pros:Beautiful swordExcellent cutting gradeSteel is of great qualityBattle ReadyHandles beautifullyCons:None!5/5!
