Not very comfortable. I don't know what the alternatives feel like, because this is the only one I tried.

excellent accessory for modtable
I've been using a MultiTable ModTable for several months. After exercise, a night of drinking or just being plain tired - I found myself using the couch towards the 6th or 7th hour standing. I tried several different sit stand stools, including different barstools and barchairs. I can put the Muvman about two feet away from my ModTable and think this chair was the upgrade I wanted. It provides a perch, more or less, that I can use to manage all the things going on at my desk with an excellent range of motion. It's easy to spring up and get off of and lean back to sit/perch. I also am barefoot, so i use a Cumulus9 Comfort Mat and OPTP Slant (stretching wedges) as a footrest for when I'm perched. All in the Muvman helped tie the entire rig together. I can share more on the accessories I use to help keep a clean setup and excellent workstation.

Initial fascination wears off fast with this chair, I bought two and wish I had not bought any, just not practical or comfortable, I am still standing , not sitting

Failure to respond to Emails and calls over broken chair
I have tried to reach out to the company concerning a manufacturing defect and have not gotten a reply from Motion Seating. the shiny part is indication of an air trap which propagated a crack throughout the back support. (it cracked when I leaned back in the chair. This was originally communicated in March but I have so far been ignored).Otherwise the seat is great, even if a bit expensive out of pocket for an individual. The customer service is lacking (hence my need to take it to here to get someone's reasonable attention).

Not comfortable. No customer care whatsoever.
I purchased this product as I thought it would be best fit the bill. My table is tall and I stand when working. This is tiring and this sit/stand stool was advertised exactly for such a purpose. Within six months, the cushion was pretty much useless for me as my weight (205 lbs) has rendered it a non cushion. The soft part of the seat pretty much folds over at this point as well. So... I can't really say this thing was worth $50 let alone the $500 plus that I paid for the taller version. On top of all this, when I tried to get some help in just replacing the top cushion since the bottom is still good, they pretty much laughed at me. Arrogant pricks is how I would describe the company in their approach to customers. Never should have purchased in the first place. Will try the $150 dollar chinese knockoff and see if that is any better. Don't waste your money on this over rated euro-trash stool. Idea is great. Product stinks.
