ION 4N cream hair dye
I love this product. The color is beautiful. My hair feels soft and manageable, not dry and tangled. My hair has always been dark, I'm nervous to let the grays/whites grow out. That being said, I get wonderful gray coverage. I love that it is a cream and not a liquid. Liquids are very drippy and make a mess for me. I like cream better as it stays where I put it with no dripping. I usually dye my hair every six weeks so the subscription is a perfect choice. You can change the color, quantity and subscription delivery time any time you need to. Hope this helps someone. 😊

Repeat customer to this brand but first time purchasing online
I usually buy my Ion Hair Dye from Sally’s but to save me a trip I decided to buy online. I particularly never used “jet black” before but I always pick in the black family so it was good enough. I specifically purchase this brand because it’s PPD free (I am allergic to PPD). Upon opening the package I was a little nervous since the tube had a different appearance from the one from Sally’s. I also read the back of the bottle and it had references to “black henna” which I found odd (or maybe never noticed on the Sally’s one idk) I hopped online to see the reviews and to my disbelief I saw some comments stating it’s really not ppd free. I was nervous. I looked up how to do a patch test - but unfortunately it takes about 24 hours and I had to dye my hair asap so I decided to do it anyways. I left it on for a 30 minutes and everything felt fine. After I washed it out I was so nervous that I might get a reaction but I am happy to report 8 hours later everything turned out fine. :)

Does not work
I don't write reviews for hair dye because it does what it's supposed to do.... dye your hair, except Ion. I bought the sapphire color, bought 2. My hair is already a greenish/blue, but it is currently faded so a dark color like the sapphire should takeUpon opening the product, it smells horrid. It smells like bleach, the whole bathroom smelled. It actually smelled worse that when I actually bleach my hair. Oddly the dye is a cream color so I'm not sure how it works or how it was supposed to dye my hair that blue tone.I left it on for over 40 minutes with no change AT ALL. I've never had a hair dye do that or lack of doing something. I can not emphasize enough how much I DO NOT recommend this product.Update: it actually discolored my hair now that it is washed out and some of my hair is still a faded blue and other parts are yellow. I'm so livid.

the BEST hair dye brand EVER
if you’re looking for a good quality, long lasting, and reliable hair dye, CHOOSE ION!!! i’ve been using ion hair dye for years and every time i do it comes out amazing! and you can get super messy with it and it comes off of skin with just one shower (black and red dye can leave a tiny bit of stains on skin but other colors i’ve found do not) it always (almost) completely washes off my face, ears, and neck. and my hair went from a light brown to jet black in only like an hours and a half. ion hair dye is always so true to color and it lasts a long time (especially black) also any brand of developer works good with this, you don’t need to buy ion developer. anyways yeah, buy ion, don’t choose the other brands 🙌 (not sponsored lmao)

Safer for hair than bleach
I'm a natural level 6 brown with lots of grey & white. I used to have blonde highlights to blend the grey. After yrs when I was getting more grey, I found this brand and tried their HL (highlift) and wow was I surprised how good it turned out. It says you have to use 4oz of 40 volume developer with 2oz (one tube) of color, which made my hair just as blonde as using bleach without the damage. Over time, I changed to 30 volume and now I use 20 volume, which for me gets plenty light.
