Ravensburger Disney Villainous: Perfectly Wretched - Strategy Board Game for Ages 10 & Up | Stand-Alone & Expansion Game | Winner of The 2019 Toy of The Year Award

These three villains each have very unique gameplay, with additional cardboard pieces not seen in any of the other sets. This makes for fun changes, though I do wonder if these new expansions are starting to become so complex and evolved that they are no longer fairly matched with the original characters.As you'll see in the detailed review below, each of the characters have multi-layered objectives (do this, so that you can do this, and then you can win). This is fun for us as experienced players, but it's not a fair match to pair these characters with early villains like Prince John (collect 20 power) or Maleficent (a curse at each location). That said, these expansion characters are great to use against some of the newer characters, and even some of the older challenging ones like Ursula.Details for frequent players:CRUELLA: She is definitely the most challenging of the three. Her objective is to capture puppy tokens, but she only has two allies, and these allies need to be activated in order to capture any of them. The problem is that the two activate spots on the board are on the top row, so they can both be covered by fate cards and really slow you down. Playing her against Hades (which we've found to be the most difficult villain so far) proved to be a fair, and very LONG, matchup.PETE: He's the one that changes up the gameplay more than any villain to date. Instead of completing one objective, he has to complete four mini-objectives that are placed at each location. Some of these are relatively easy; some can be very hard, especially if you're targeted by a fate action. His deck comes with TONS of allies, which is helpful for certain objectives, but it does make his deck full of repeat cards. He might be the most fun to play with of these three though, because he has lots of routes to victory.MOTHER GOTHEL: Her objective is the most straightforward—collect "trust" (represented as power tokens from the supply) by playing cards at strategic times. Rapunzel is a permanent hero in her realm, constantly moving back and forth. If you've blocked your opponent's ability to play fate actions on you every turn, then Mother Gothel is pretty easy to win with. But if your opponent(s) can strike you with a fate action every turn, it's almost impossible to collect and keep the necessary "trust." Be warned.Overall, this game continues to be a favorite! Of the expansions, I'd rank them (1) Wicked to The Core, (2) Perfectly Wretched, (3) Evil Comes Prepared.Enjoy playing!

My older daughters turned me on to the game Villainous and it's been so much fun with all the characters! A fun game of strategy... you are the villain trying to win in your own realm before the other villains win in theirs!.. Each character has a different story and if you're a Disney fan, it is addictive being a different villain with each new game. We started with one pack and have already bought 2 more! Find out who is your favorite villain! Highly recommend for older kids and adults to play!

I love the villainous series board game, its extremely immersive and just fun for the whole family, these expansion packs really help make game play unique and prevent the same characters from being played again.

All of these expansion are great.

TL;DR: Product is fine, just not our favorite, reasons below.I love the Villainous games and have them all, Marvel and Star Wars included. But I'll say that before I bought the Oogie Boogie expansion this was the edition with the least favorite characters. While these 3 characters play in a way that is more unique and different from others compared to other expansions they just haven't been as enjoyable for my family. Pete gets avoided just for aesthetic reasons, Cruella gets avoided because of all the puppy pogs and counting them up and then losing some to fate actions and redoing your math as to how you can get the most the fastest, and with Mother Goethel constantly moving Rapunzel back and forth across the board every single turn gets annoyingly repetitive, and unless you have 3+ people playing to keep using fate cards to cause her to lose Trust tokens she starts to build up a snowball effect and becomes unstoppable so there's an unofficial ban on her when only 2 people are playing (house rule).I feel like every box that isn't a single character has one that is just a little bit easier than the others, I've heard similar theories from other players, and Mother Goethel is that one in this box. But despite all that I don't feel like there's anything conceptually wrong with these characters, they don't feel unbalanced, they are just simply the least favorite around here, so I wouldn't recommend getting this box first/early unless you're a collector trying to get them all (like me) or if one of these is just your favorite character and you really want them.Our favorites have all been from different expansion boxes, including Hades from the purple box, the Horned King from the yellow box, Yzma from the brown box, and Syndrome and Madam Mim from the orange box. There's just no favorites from the red box for us.

Villainous is a little overwhelming at first, but once you jump in and just play, you check the instructions and guides to answer any questions you have, and it’s a wonderful game.
