SilverFox Dressage Saddle Set

Most of my riding is done as a hunter jumper, and my go to saddle is a Brittany. However, in my middle age I find myself spending more time on the flat doing lateral work, so I wanted a saddle to play around in but didn’t want the hassle of reselling something I didn’t like. Taking a risk I bought the package on a lark. The flocking is solid. The seat leather is reasonably supple, but the skirts and flaps will take riding time and oil/ leather conditioner to get there. There are no fancy knee/ thigh block, so there’s no crutches- you will have to ride well or learn in this saddle. The billets are nylon lined to prevent stretching and wear, but are straight (not the modern v or u). The girth with my set was leather and very supple, no breaking in required. The bridle is a flat/single ply leather, no frills snaffle bridle. Now, all this leather and they sent nylon stirrup leathers… sigh… I would have been happier without a saddle pad and or the stirrup irons to get leather stirrup leathers. The saddle pads and stirrup irons wear schooling quality. Overall, a good buy.UPDATE: I was really impressed with how this saddle went through the beginning of the break in process. After two coats of oil, leather conditioner, and some rolling of the billets, panels, and flaps the first ride was very comfortable.

It is unfortunate this set did not work for me or my horse, because it is very nice. The saddle and girth are far from high quality leather (but for the price, duh), but it is still a good set. The saddle pad is different than what is pictured (but the one I got instead was way nicer) and the bridle doesn't come with the bit. This didn't work for me so I returned it and that was very easy to do with no hassles

If ordering your regular size order a size bigger because this saddle shorts you an inch. It runs small. Not happy
