Q: What of finish is on this piece? What color? Also how large (diameter) of metal are those rods? Thanks.

Not sure what you would call the finish. It is like a black matte paint. The rods are probably 3/16 to 1/4 in diameter. Ours looks perfect above our piano. Tip... when hanging I used 2 nails 1 at the very top and 1 near the end of the notes. the weight distribution is not centered so i hung it from 1 nail then moved to straight and tacked with the other nail.

It really needs a space available that is 33 inches Wide x 19 inches High. I love Mine and I've bought it as a gift for others and they love it too. Hope it fits in your space.
