vive wireless adapter - pc- Black

Q: would this work if your pc and vive are in different rooms? Can the coax cable be extended? Has anyone tried this? If so, how long?

I have my vive in a different room so I contacted HTC support to ask the same question. They said it does not work with a longer cable and would not tell me what kind of coax cable it was. I ended up having to buy some hdmi and usb extension cables so I could move my tower closer to the room and keep my desk where it is. The short cable really restricts how you can set up your play space.

Q: It says under connection type Vive Pro respective connector, is that incorrect? I thought you needed a special adapter for Vive Pro compatibility.

The connector for the Vive Pro is present on this device. The adapter kit includes the short cable to connect to it as well as an extended pad to keep it off your head and the mounting adapter to strap it to the pad.

Q: Do you have to be in the same room as the pc, or could the pc be on a second storey and the play space be in the basement?

Yes the transmitter and antenna are “line of sight”. The antenna is highly directional and needs a clear path to transmit a high rate of information. The antenna gauge is too low to be properly extend and as it seems to be an active antenna the power isn’t there to extend any way.
