Wonderful!
This is a great manual for anyone who is interested in restorative yoga. The author does a great job of explaining why anybody can do restorative yoga. She describes ways to use items in your own home so you don't have to spend a lot (or any) money to get started. I enjoyed the brief but interesting history of restorative yoga and the description of what makes it different from other types of yoga, which are also described in a a concise table. The diagrams and descriptions of the poses are so well done you don't need any yoga experience to understand what the pose is supposed to be. Then, to have so many sequences offered will keep anybody's interest for a long time. There is even a section on how to build your own sequence so you can find exactly what works for your body! The tips for each pose and sequence were extremely helpful. In short, this book is a well thought out manual that is easy to understand and interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Become a master of stress management
Julia's book is truly excellent.As a yoga teacher, and stress haver, I can assure you that her approach to explaining this important practice is both accessible and thorough. I highly recommend buying this book.The knowledge she generously shares will have an immediate impact on your life, and also the lives of those around you.The book begins with a brief and valuable explanation about how restorative yoga fits in to the yoga world, it's benefits and what you will need to get started. She also explains how you can create props and bolsters out of common household items if you don't have a full studio worth of props at your immediate disposal.Poses are beautifully described with recommended hold times, cues and energetic prompts.There are even a number of thoughtful sequences that you can easily guide yourself through.This book is very much worth the minimal investment, and the practice is absolutely priceless.Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us, Julia.

Great yoga book
I am enjoying this instructional book. I am able to do most of these poses. I am 67.

Julia Clarke's book is an Restorative experience
This is one of the most precise, and effective Restorative yoga books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Julie's book is easy to read, light on weight and simple to navigate the various asana. The wonderful illustrations help guide you along, breaking down each asana right down to most useful bone. Julia has a gift of explaining the how-to, while ensuring the avoidance of any type of injuries. You can also find what is recommended in terms of equipment. Bolsters, blocks, you name it. Those new to Restorative yoga, and those still practicing to enhance their asana in general will enjoy this book greatly.This is one of the better instructional texts for yoga anywhere. Julia Clarke guides you as if she were there, through precision entrances and exits from asana, folding blankets to use instead of expensive equipment and knowledge you can trust your mind and body with. Wonderful book.

Fantastic!
This is an excellent resource for anyone interested in restorative yoga, not just beginners. The author provides clear instructions for each pose, as well as precautions, benefits, and possible modifications. This book taught me a number of poses that I was unfamiliar with and helped deepen my understanding of poses I've been doing for years.I can't recommend this book highly enough! Five stars!!

LOVE IT! truly easy, gentle yoga - but you'll need to buy props
I've never seen a yoga book like this. The poses are very gentle and easy to do. It's so well-explained, and the author provides numerous sequences addressing different physical and psychological issues. I'm a beginner, so this makes it really easy to get yoga's benefits without having to hold a bunch of weird poses. This is 100% a 5-star book. Just keep in mind that the poses all require props. You'll at least need one yoga bolster and a set of blocks (you'll need blankets, too, but you'll surely have some at home already). A couple of poses really need two bolsters and/or a strap, but you can easily skip those. Bolsters are about $35 on Amazon. I also ended up buying a yoga mat so I wouldn't get floor debris all over the bolster, but I'm sure a sheet or blanket would work just as well. In sum: this is a really special yoga book that's different than the others.

Beautifully illustrated and easy to understand directions. I appreciate the actual *diversity* of bodies depicted throughout. I purchased for family members, too. If you're seeking a go-to guide for restorative yoga, I highly recommend this book.

Accessible for all levels
This book has a wide variety of shapes and helpful tips to make the poses and practices accessible to anyone interested in a restorative yoga practice. I've been teaching for more than 12 years and still found new ideas, and I also shared it with my mom, who is a total beginner. (I might have to get another copy as I don't think she's going to give it back!) Such a well thought out and mindfully put together book.

Easy and effective
I am seeing results after one day. Maybe this will lead to a pain free situation! I really think it might!The poses are easy and comfortable; I am very impressed, and therefore thoroughly recommend this book.

Excellent for people with bad backs
Brilliant pictures and descriptions. Easy to follow and particularly like the workouts at the end of the book.

Very basic and boring
Not what I was expecting. Every single position is basically “lie down with a towel between your legs for 10 mins”. Illustrations are beautiful but the content is disappointing and pointless. I requested refund and will be sending this back.
