Phifer 3028594 Spline Roller, Screen Mouse (Individual) is an innovative tool for screen installation. Great for most screen replacements.
This tool does work as described. My only issue was replacing screens in 6 wood "Screen Tight" doors that are used for my screen in porch. I removed the old screens to paint the doors. I had a difficult time using this tool to reinstall the original spline with the new screen using this tool. I had to use my old tool to do so due to the narrowed spline groove. For window screen replacement in metal or unpainted wood doors, this tool will work fine. It is a bit hard to hold onto if you have large hands.

Doesn't require a lot of force!
Worked pretty decently once I realized that you did not need to apply a ton of force or pressure to make it work. I thought it was a bit flimsy and weak like some of the other reviewers pointed out until I realized I could ease up. It's still just cheap plastic and would have paid more for a similar but sturdier two wheeled device. I've done about 18 windows and a screen door with this and still holding up though.

Significantly reduced time spent replacing screens.
Stumbled upon this item when looking at videos on replacing the screen in windows and doors. I had a project and last time it didn't go so well so I wanted to learn a better way. Actually saw a demo video by the manufacturer on YouTube and I must say after using it myself it's just a easy to use as demonstrated. It's easier to hold than the standard double ended spline roller tool and the job went quicker. The end result looked more "pro" as well.

Great idea...not so great performance
I purchased this to help building Phifer sunscreens based on videos posted by Phifer. I found it to be to flimsy to really work well. I ended up purchasing a standard 2-roller spline roller and it worked much better. I think this may work well if you are building standard screens with thinner spline but it didn't work for me on sunscreens with 0.235" spline.

Ok at best
It hold spline and it works it in, but for pool enclosure screen it is not as smooth as its made out to be. I got a few splines done and went back to the old tool I have had for 15 years and it was just as easy as this one.

Like others, many times while pressing in the spline
Up to this point in time I've been using a conventional spline roller - straight handle, large wheel. Like others, many times while pressing in the spline, the wheel would slip out of the spline joint and tear the screen material. I figured I'd try something new and different. I just finished resetting all of the spline material on our back porch and the Phifer (mouse) spline roller worked flawlessly. No only did it not come out of the spline joint, the spline material is feed through the roller eliminating having someone hold it in place behind you - truly a one person job now. Great price, fast shipping and a very useful tool.

One Job and Done
If you only have one job to do, the cheap price outweighs the lack of sturdiness of this “tool”. If you might have another screening job to do, spend $25 on your splining tool.

Really works
Did not expect to be of much help. However I was surprised at hoe easy it made installing screens. Looks like it will last a while then I will buy another.
