Bottom Line: These Flash Drives are a Great Value the Read speed is great. The short term (small number of files) Write speed is acceptable and the Sustained (large number of files or size) Write speed is tolerable.I love the colors and the texture of these Flash drives. In fact it was the colors that caused me to buy these instead of another brand. In real life they look just like the photograph. The texture has just enough roughness to keep them from being slippery. I do photography and needed something to put the photos on that I give to people, these look and feel great! I will definitely be buying more of these.I am always suspicious of Flash Drives, there are so many fake ones out there. So I did extensive testing of these and they passed every test. The only thing I was not totally satisfied with is that the write speed can be slow but it is difficult to measure this accurately. Overall I would say that the read speed is great and the write speed is adequate.I used a program called BADBLOCKS to do a non-destructive read/write test of each sector. However this test can only verify individual sectors, it cannot detect the sort of games that fake drives play. So I also (almost) completely filled the drive with a mixture of large and small files -- all unique. And then verified the result by doing a byte by byte compare with the original files. I did this to each of the drives and they all passed.It only took 1 hour to Read each file on the full Flash Drive (about 59 gigs) and compare it to the same file on the hard disk. So that is a very good read speed.The Write speed is very bursty. It will be very fast for awhile and then slow to a crawl and then speed up again. So if you are writing a small number of files at a time you should see fast performance. But for sustained writes of large quantities of files the average speed is quite slow. The overall sustained write speed when copying 59 gigs of files was about half a meg per second, which is super slow. But I also saw short term Write speeds of over 10 megs a second. However there are confounding factors that are very dependent on the computer system itself, your results will be different from mine. Note: I did not reformat the drive, these were tested as shipped. Using a different disk format could change these results by quite a bit. It only took BADBLOCKS 14 hours to run which involved multiple reads and writes to each sector of the disk. But it took RSYNC about 25 hours to fill the disk with files.My guess is that these Flash drives have a large internal buffer. MAKE SURE THAT YOU UNMOUNT THEM PROPERLY or you could lose anything that is still in process of being saved.These Flash drives are USB 2. I have read that USB 2 drives can interfere with USB 3 drives when both are plugged in to the same USB hub. But I have never actually encountered that problem before now and have not paid any attention to it. I guess most of my drives are USB 3? I don't know, I haven't kept track, all I know is that things became very erratic when I tired to use both at the same time. Once I disconnected all of my USB3 drives I was able to access these without further problems. But for anyone who is expecting to copy files between the Flash Drive and an external hard disk you might encounter a problem.Disclaimer: I paid full price for these and nobody tried to influence my opinion. These are nice usb sticks to use with embroidery machines. But, this is the 3rd time that we have ordered and at least 1 of the sticks will not work. In computer, machine, nowhere. Really tired of this. I need sticks that work!!!!

I bought these a year ago and am getting ready to repurchase. None have failed; everything has gone well with them. However, I don't know why anyone thought having a big, glaring, flashing red light on the end was a good design feature. It's very annoying during in-home use, and both annoying and an unnecessary distraction in the car.If they'd get rid of the dumb light or just give you a pin-hole light to verify operation, I'd give these five stars.

The thumb drives performed exactly as expected. I have not had a problem with any that I have used so far.

These thumbdrives are an excellent value for the money. I've only started using one, and that was for my pictures and still have plenty of space on that one. Thank you K&ZZ for such a good deal.
