I have a few different kitchen thermometers for different purposes. This one is for desserts. Most of the time I check syrup temperature, melted chocolate, or temperature inside the panettone. Always works fast and accurate. I love the features when you can use the thermometer up side down and screen automatically shows in correct orientation.

I was extremely dubious about whether this was worth the price. It's an instant read thermometer. I already have an instant read thermometer. Can you really make an instant read thermometer that's worth 5 times more than a basic one?Yes. Yes, you can.This is a big honker of a thermometer. It's almost certainly bigger than you think it is, if you've never held on before. It fee ls like it's built like a tank. But other than that, what makes it worth the price?1) Fast. My old thermometer takes about 5-8 seconds to settle on a read. Is 2-3 seconds really that much different? Yup, it definitely is when you're standing over a bed of hot coals or practically sticking your head into a blazing oven. This thermometer reads so fast that sometimes it doesn't even feel like 2 seconds. The first few times I used it, I actually sat there waiting for the temperature to keep changing before I realized it was done. Great!2) Smart. When open the thermometer (by rotating the prong out), the LED comes on and orients itself. This last feature if fantastic: if you aren't paying attention and insert the prong in a way that the handle is ""upside down"" the LED display will reorient itself. I was surprised by how often I did this, and how often I *didn't* need to crane my neck to get a read.3) Accurate. Very. 'Nuff said.4) Feature rich. It has a hook hole in case you want to hang it. It has a magnet, in case you need to stick it someplace while you fiddle a hot pan around. It has nice, soft grip in case you're handling it with slick hands.This is just a super easy, and extremely well-engineered design. They put a lot of thought into this thermometer, and I cannot recommend it enough as an upgrade from the $10-20 cheap designs if you do a lot of cooking.

I never write reviews, but this thermometer is so great I had to let the world know about it. I'm generally critical and look for flaws when it comes to items I purchase. Especially things from overseas. These are the things I really like about it in no particular order. The digital display is easy to read, even without my glasses and is back lit to see it at night. It reads in C or F. Probe has a sharp point which pierces meat easily. The probe folds down for storage and safety. It's water resistant. Has a magnet on the back to hold it to the grill. Has a meat temp chart on the back for reference. Super quick and accurate readings. Seems well made and comes with an extra battery. Also has a wrist strap lanyard, not sure why, maybe so you don't drop it into the grill. It's kept me from over/under cooking all kinds of meats. I've used it 6 or 7 times and as long it doesn't break iv'e got no complaints. Thanks Mr. Digital Thermometer maker!!

This instant read thermometer is great to have for both indoor and outdoor cooking. We keep this black fold out thermometer in the kitchen near our black and stainless steel oven range. The probe is simple to clean and sanitize for all types of meats. The meat temp guide on the back side of the thermometer makes a quick reference guide for grilling so I do not have to use alexa or search on my phone for what temp Med Rare for steak or safe temp for grilled chicken. The magnet embedded inside has the perfect amount of strength so it stays put but does not require so much force to remove and use quickly. The two button system makes this simple to use and are placed in a user friendly position for lighting up the display or to hold after taking reading. I keep my readings in F degrees and love the large number lcd font and blue indiglow type lcd backlight display.

no apparent fix, changes battery but not the issue...does anything last any more? I think I'll just use an old one I still have with a dial!

We've had this for almost a yr now and it still works perfectly as the day we got it! Highly recommend!

Under infrequent use it stopped giving accurate reading (reading too low) after about two years.
