GE CYNC Smart Remote, Wire-Free, Battery-Powered, White Tones Control, Bluetooth Remote

The turn on/off buttons worked fine but the color-change and intensity buttons wouldn’t work until I updated the firmware, the app and the shut down/turned back on my phone.

This was easy to set up in the C by GE app, however the only complaint I have is that GE advertisers the ability to change the colors of full color bulbs. This will not let you change any colors, only the daylight candle light and fluorescent and other types of white light. I have all full color bulbs in my house and this is pretty much useless for operating those other than to turn them on and off and dim them and brighten them and the cycle through the various colors of white light like I showed in my third picture above. Other than that this is a pretty handy thing to have around with its magnetic backing. Sometimes it's nice just to be able to grab the remote and change the lights instead of having to go through the whole Google or Alexa thing. Overall though for what I paid for it I'm very happy. Time will tell if it lasts but for now I'm very pleased.

Nice remote, the size it could be a little slimmer

The product works great. But, and a big BUT that I wish I had known before I purchased the new line of products and everything c by GE. The new wire free products cannot connect to your c-reach at this time thus you must take any bulb you choose to use with any of the wire free devices out of your c-reach setup in the app (thus from HomeKit, as that is only c by GE product that connects to HomeKit) and into their own “Location” within the c by GE app. Big pain, especially when you had and were going for a complete HomeKit setup for C by GE products exclusively. Cherry on top, since the announcement of Savant buying GE lighting I have gotten just about no feedback on the new wire free devices nor my issues with recent firmware update failures. I’m sure they will work it out eventually but till then I’m stuck with a mashed up “smart home”.

Works great. On and off works. Dimming and changing the tempature of light. However, it does not let you scroll through "scenes". Example: I like a soft blue light. I set this in the C app. Once I use the buttons on the remote I can dim or brighten the color. But when I hit the tempature button, it changes to default colors. Then I cannot change it back to blue unless I use the app. Maybe GE will release a firmware that will allow this function as well.

This wireless remote uses the easy to find 2032 button battery (1).It took about a minute to add it to the already setup system.Instantaneous response time.There are 2 magnets on the back side of this remote; One on top end and one on bottom end. You cannot see them.It sticks to the Sheetrock metal corners on the wall as shown.My 2nd wireless remote was saying it needed a firmware update, which it didn’t, and it wouldn’t stop blinking blue after setting it up.It took me a 1/2 hour, after searching the internet why?, to try a new battery. That was all I needed. The blue light stopped blinking.

PROs: Great way to control the C by GE lightbulbs. Very quick response time with the bulbs when the buttons are clicked.CONs: It was a bit difficult to setup via the C by GE app but eventually got it to work. The only major complaint is that you can’t program the left & right buttons to select actual colors for the bulbs. Instead these buttons only control the shades of white (from soft to daylight).

I've had the Lutron Caseta ecosystem but wasn't happy with the form factor and physical interfaces. The GE Cync has really great physical interfaces (mostly), but the reliability and user interface is garbage.In this remote's case, the remote dimmer doesn't work. The wall switch dimmer works, but not the remote for unknown reasons. It's also not spectacularly reliable....sometimes you press the button and nothing happens. Unfortunate, since the remote feels great in the hand and is easy to use.
