I started wet having a couple of years ago but never went all the way using a double edge straight razor. I had an old Gillette double edge razor and started to use that a couple of months ago. I would cut my face etc, and I found myself going back to the triple blade razors just to save my face. After doing research I realized you needed a good double edge razor and really good blades and the proper technique. I went to look for a razor and I found this one from The Princeton Shave Club. This has a great weight so it glides on your face, Easy twist handle to open the butterfly top to change blades. I purchased this long handle which gives me the option of holding it short, choking the handle, sort of, and holding it long when I need to to get a perfect feel when shaving.A good weighted razor in your hand is really important when using a straight razor and the Princeton Shave is excellent for the price, $24 it was well worth it.This came in a beautiful box, well packaged with 5 7'O'clock blades. I have not tried the blades yet as I had Feather blades in the house. The shaves I have been getting have been closer than anything those "Safety Razors" have given me. I am down to every other day shaving as it's that close. I recommend this razor and wet shaving to anybody. If you are just beginning, I would use the Wilkinson Sword blades (fits in this razor too) as they are good for beginners. Also I would look on line for the proper technique on how to shave with a double edge razor. I was amazed on what I didn't know.

Not the Best Quality? - IMHO
Ordered thinking I needed a longer handle razor for shaving my head. Feels OK in the hand but (at least for me) the handle is too long. I compared the shave I got with the Princeton to what I get with my Merkur Model 180 (ASIN: B000NL0T1G) and my Perfecto double-edged long handle (ASIN: B00SA7YS58), and of these three the Merkur gave by far the best experience, FOR ME. The Princeton fells a little too heavy and the handle just a little too long. Now I have average sized hands, so for someone with larger hands, the fit might be perfect. I need to mention that I use my razors for shaving my head as well as my face so I get to put my razors through a lot. As for the butterfly design, don't buy based on just that. More of a gimmick maybe than anything in THIS case. Most of the shaving forums when talking about the butterfly, twist-to-open (TTO) style versus the multi-piece cite more of a 'handling safety' reason for the TTO design as opposed to a shaving comfort/effectiveness reason. Anyway, in any case with the razor you choose, choose carefully, after all you are going to be using this to shave your face/head and spending a little extra for quality will be worth it in the long run, and I worry about the durability of this design on this particular razor, especially since the razor is manufactured in Pakistan.

Review for begginers
This was my first Safety Razor purchase (After having only used disposable ones) and I would recommend this item to and beginner - probably anyone who wants to use a safety razor though too. It really helps because there is a long handle for more precision.FOR THE BEGINNERS:The actual razor blade only barely comes out of the safety razor, so there is very little chance of accidental cutting. You use it very similarly to disposable razors, but I find that a slightly higher angle works better (handle tilted at about 75 degree angle on cheek, rather than straight down with a disposable.)It is a lot more difficult to cut yourself with it, so don't worry about that.To open/insert/change blades twist the knob at the end of the handle just before the actual butterfly mechanism. This item works best on already short hair, more of a grooming item, so if you don't wet shave daily then you'll probably want to go over your beard once with an electric razor (just a cheap 15$ one from walmart or whatever) to give a 5'oclock shadow appearance then shave from there.Don't forget to shave against the grain on your second time through. Always shave with the grain on your first time, then shave against the grain - helps reduce razor burn.

Decent razor. Fit and finish are not quite there.
This is a decent razor for the price. It has a nice hefty weight to it. The handle is quite long, which I like. The shave is nice, but I think I would benefit from something a little more aggressive (my problem, not the razor's). All that being said, I really was disappointed with the fit and finish of this razor. The butterfly closure doors on mine didn't quite meet evenly in the middle when closed and they were both crooked. This resulted in the exposure of the blade edge to be uneven - farther out on one corner than the other on each side. As for the finish, it was nicely chromed on the outside parts. But, once you opened the razor, the interior was lightly and or poorly chromed. All in all a decent razor to start out with, and good for the price. But, if you continue with double edged shaving for any time, you may eventually want to upgrade.

Great potential that comes up short in quality.
The price for this is great and the weight of the razor is hefty and if feels nice in your hand. I have been using a straight razor for a few years now. I originally had a DE straight razor with a twist head to replace the blades, after a lot of research many people recommended using a butterfly open razor. While looking for my next razor I decided to give this one a try. Within a month the knob at the top of the razor jammed, and one of the wings that closes around the blade came completely off. I was able to put it back on, but then every time I would open or close it the know would jam and again the wing would come off. The other thing to note is that when it says "extra-long", they mean it. This isn't a drawback per se', just note that it will not fit in a standard razor stand. If you do decide to order this razor, make sure you have an extra-long razor stand.
