The dog whistle certainly works on an annoying neighbor's dog. First of all, I'm using it as an aversion: I blow this thing with maximum force, and within a few feet of the annoying dog behind a wooden fence. The dog will be aggravated for several seconds, maybe a minute of my continued blowing, but will inevitably give up and gtfo. This requires constant usage at any time the dog decides to bark at me, and because it's negative conditional training (the dog doesn't like the whistle and will avoid barking at me as much, but will at times forget that and need constant reminding). Unfortunately, this whistle isn't the easiest to blow, and is too audibly loud for human ears. It'd be nice if it was more silent on our own ears, and had a higher volume of air flow.

You can hear the whistle and it’s not really effective. It’s not going to make your dog cower in discomfort. It will make your kids cower in discomfort though.

This is a very nice whistle. However, I bought it to stop dogs from barking and in actuality they bark more! I can see how it would be good for training but pretty much nothing else

This whistle has no effect on a dog

Whistle is soft but audible. "Tuning" hasn't seemed to make a lot of difference. The dogs do hear and respond to it but sometimes ignore it. Maybe I need to give it more time?

They just don't sound right to me. Your supposed to be able to change the pitch on them... But , when I try... It just sounds the same...like a plastic kids flute.

I live in an apartment and the neighbor’s dog would bark for hours and hours and hours…!!!… So I got these and started whistling every time it started barking. Within a couple weeks it almost never barks anymore and when it dies, one or two blows of the whistle and beautiful serene silence.
