Burnishers are tools with hardened, polished rods that form or “draw out” the steel from the scraper edge that is used to form the thin hook or cutting edge. This burnisher will create an excellent hook with minimal effort. The handle is made from solid American Black Walnut and is patterned after an antique Holtzapffel Ornamental lathe turning tool. The handle fits the hand nicely while providing a firm grip and affording excellent control. The handle is 5-1/8 inches long, 1-1/4 inches diameter at the largest part and fitted with a solid brass ferrule. Overall length is 9-1/2 inches. The hardened and polished solid carbide rod is 1/4 inch in diameter, 4 inches long and hardened to HRC 92-94. Overall length is 9-1/2 inches.
