Best recent source of information on wines of Sancerre and the eastern Loire Valley
Very good review of a wine area that is seldom written about. A great tool for understanding the Sancerre area.

loire valley in depth by a real expert
A very readable book offering in depth analysis producer by producer and wine by wine. We learned a great deal from this volume and we wish more writers would take the time and trouble to produce similar volumes.

Hurrah!
I just reviewed the author's previous book, "The Wine and Food Guide to the Loire," and mentioned that the book, published in 1996, needed an update. And here it is! As with the first book, exquisitely, and exhaustingly, written. Wish I had had this with me when I visited the Loire...I guess that just means I'll have to return, with this book in my clutches.

Nice read for Loire Valley fans
Well done book that highlights specific producers and also different areas within the Loire Valley in France. Covers both reds and white, it's a terrific resource for wines of that region. If you like Loire wines, you ought to pick up this book.

A must have for anyone interested in the wines of the Loire
There are few books that concentrate on the wines of the Loire but this new one from Jacqueline Friedrich is a great guide for anyone passionate about the Loire valley. This volume concentrates on Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé and the Sauvignon satellites and each appellation has it's own chapter. Key facts and figures, maps and information on a whole range of producers from the well known to the less so and recommendations for those up and coming producers too. It's easy to read so serves both as a book to enjoy and as an up to date reference for what's going on in the region today. If you love Sauvignon Blanc and want to delve a bit deeper I can highly recommend it.
