A beautiful watch that never really worked
I really wanted to love this watch, but it has been disappointing. The movement was difficult early on. It needed to be wound daily, and the time would go off significantly every few days.I sent it for warranty repair, which did not improve anything. Communication with the workshop was poor, and somewhat not pleasant. I doubt any actual work was carried out, as the same problems persisted. For comparison, I have an equivalent watch with a Myiota movement that has none of these issue. Guess which one I am using.

Good looking all-black automatic watch, but not without its quirks
If you're in the market for a relatively small, blacked-out automatic watch, this Seiko watch is definitely an option. It sits fairly close to the wrist, especially after changing out the included Nato-style strap for a regular two-piece strap, and is light enough to wear everyday without feeling so light that it would fall apart. The watch doesn't have a raised bezel and the crystal sits a little proud, so could be subject to scratches depending on how rough you are with your watches. I like that the crown is at the 4 o'clock position and that the case has raised edges to help protect it. The all-black colourway is understated and smart. After owning it for a few months however I've noticed some quirks that I think others should be aware of:1) The black lume is bad. Really bad. It's very dim and lasts maybe 5 minutes on a full charge under a bright LED lamp. Don't buy this if you want to be able to read the time in the dark.2) My copy runs a little bit slow. I know automatic watches don't keep super accurate time, and that's not why I bought this (my radio controlled G-Shocks fill that purpose), but I would have preferred it to run faster out of the box.3) My copy loses more time when I'm wearing it. This bugs me the most as it seems very counter-intuitive. The manual states that temperature changes will affect the accuracy of the watch, so if the watch heats up then the movement will lose time, if it is cold it will gain time. This is understandable, materials expand and contract as they heat up and cool down, thus affecting the watch's ability to keep regular time. Over the course of an 8 hour day on my wrist it will maybe lose 2-3 minutes. If I wear it as I sleep, over the course of 6-7 hours it will lose 10-15 minutes! And this is fully wound/charged too. It's more accurate to wind the crown and set it on the bedside table overnight instead of keeping it on my person.I suppose this watch is a little bit more "hands-on" than others. If you want high accuracy you're looking in the wrong place. Get a radio-controlled watch instead or, at the very least a good quartz. If you want an accurate automatic, look elsewhere. If that still doesn't dissuade you, wait for a sale.
