Unexpected yet still good
Because this film is not well known maybe there is not much expected of it, which could be a good thing in this case. The only things I find to be high achievements would be the views and opinions on life given by the characters and there are two surprise twists in the movie. Other than that this film is just a movie about a family's life together and apart. It slightly resembles Ordinary People, so if you are a fan of that then you may enjoy this but if you don't like movies that make you think or have no action then don't waste your time on this one.

Good movie
Slow burn but interesting. The hard part is living, so don't feel bad for the dead. Basic idea of the movie.

Imaginary Parents
I like Sigourney Weaver and Jeff Daniels but to me, this movie was slow. Bully in school, mom makes a threat and to prove she means business she slaps a paper cup off the table - WOW I'm scare of her! Subtitle in French language.

Amazing
Loved this movie had to buy it. It is somewhat of a dark movie with humor if you find it that way.

Imaginary Heroes movie
Sigourney Weaver is always worth it, even in a strange film. The plot's a bit odd, but I like it. Four-star rating!!!

I got this movie to use different parts of it as a teaching tool for recovery. It has a scene in it that will work well.

Imaginary Heroes - A Movie Of Character Studies, A Movie For Actors
Imaginary Heroes It's amazing the contrasting reactions this movie has illicited. Some people dislike it's slow pace and some seem bothered that it's theme, the disintegrating American family, has been portrayed before by better known and more glamorous films. That's no surprise. All of those points are valid to a degree, but they do not take into account the main audience for this movie: actors or lovers of acting.Yes, the pacing is rather slow, yet there are movies that are made where this is intentional. The end result is that you have no fanfare, no quick plot progressions. You are just left with the mundane feelings of everyday life. And really, for most people, isn't that what life is?Yes it's true, suicide is a common theme, and the movie gives away the main plot element right in the beginning, so no spoiler there. Yet how do people deal with losing a brother, a son, a friend? Each character's reaction is a testament to great writing and great acting as well. And it takes great directing to bring those two things together. This movie is hard to watch because it's supposed to be. While it's not a great "film-watching" experience, it is an excellent study of various acting techniques. Therefore, students of acting or actors will find a lot to admire here.Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Daniels, Michelle Williams and Emile Hirsh all show tremendous range here, and each does it using very distinct and different techniques. We have method acting, sense memory, character acting and some plain old amazing acting. Some of those differences are subtle but if you watch this a few times the effect is impressive.Yes, the slow pacing and lack of groundbreaking themes perhaps make this a 3 star movie at best, yet the incredible performances and well written material deserve a 4 star rating.Don't watch this movie with any other movie in mind. Let this movie stand on it's own. If you are able to reflect and enjoy studying how actors work, then this movie is for you. If you're looking for a fun Friday night movie, you may want to check out something else.Enjoy.

Sigourney can do no wrong
I bought this film not knowing much about it but being a massive Sigourney Weaver fan there was no way I was not going to buy it.I will be honest, the film/storyline itself can at times be dull but the sheer presence of Sigourney on screen and her timing are enough to carry this film through to the end.Emile Hirsch is also very good. Jeff Daniels seems a bit misplaced and flat.I recommend this film if you are a fan of Weaver as she has never been on finer form.

different, in many ways
Had no idea what to expect, were we up for a surprise. The plot is different from what you might expect, no open doors here. The acting performance of both Sigourney Weaver and Emile Hirsch lift the movie to a whole different level. Especially Emile Hirsch simply never bores, and boy does he deliver. Once again he gets under your skin and takes you on a journey.

Superb Sigourney saves silly show?
Well yes and no. Emile Hirsch is as fantastic as he ever has been or will be. The storyline with him and his friend is truly awesome and NEEDS to be seen. Otherwise it's watchable stuff. Just don't go expecting any cheery fun.

Great film very sad
It was I really good film. That is about as far as i say. The constant feud between the mum and the next door neighbour is an amazing addition to the story, as the family is trying to cope with loss of their eldest, athletic son, while the non athletic younger brother is trying to stay away from drugs (which are given to him by his new friend). It is a very sad but funny film. I would recommend this film to anyone over 18.
