Good Idea to have the Entire Series
This is truly a MODERN GUITAR BOOK. In comparison, another book I bought at a local store had a slick modern cover - but inside was a 1967 publication which was complex and I felt outdated. I looked at the original publication date, then the latest reprint - 2008. NOT SO with these easy to understand books. Since I'm a beginner, I enjoy looking at how more advanced guitarists play and understand the guitar. So with the details, explanations, colorful illustrations, it's easy to understand what's next for me in my own learning curve. I think you'll benefit from this amazing book! I own a Martin travel size acoustic guitar, and information in this book is also helpful to me. Complexity boiled down to easy. A good mix any day.

Learning Guitar the Easy Way
I can't believe how easy this book made it to learn the modes and what chords to play with them. The book provides 2 different versions of each scale; I prefer the 3 notes-per-string pattern because of its easy playability. I also liked how the book suggests combining phrases from one mode with another mode to change the nuance of a guitar lead in the same song. As I depart from using only pentatonic scales I hear a whole new world of possibilities with the modal scales shown in this book! All of these possibilities are available by just learning 7 scale patterns--my hat's off to the author who has made something difficult and intimidating into something that is easy and accessible. If you play guitar you need this book!
