Just Right
I bought my kayak at a large sporting goods store at the end of a week long sale. Their paddle rack was virtually empty so I grabbed the least expensive paddle that fit me and figured it would be a spare after I found the right paddle. I shopped the other sporting good stores in the area and started to feel like Goldilocks. This price is too high, this paddle is too heavy, this paddle wiggles at the join... But these Day Tripper paddles are JUST RIGHT. The price is just right for the new and casual paddler, the weight is just right, the color is just right, and the join does not wiggle. I'm very happy with the two paddles I purchased.

Gets the job done
This paddle is sturdy. There is a VERY SMALL wiggle at the joint, but not really enough to notice. I've paddled pretty hard with it, using it to push off rocks and really digging in and it has so far held up well. If I had one complaint with this paddle, it's that it is a bit 'wet'. What I mean is that it seems to collect a lot of water that drains down the shaft, despite the little drip guards. I don't know if it is the rib that runs the length of the paddle blade or what but when I use my other paddle (Carlisle Magic Mystic ), it seems to come out of the water mostly dry. This one does not. It seems like I'm scooping about 2 or 3 tablespoons of water onto myself with each stroke. Granted, I paddle very close to the boat so my paddle goes almost vertical. However, I mostly use it on the river anyway so being wet doesn't matter. But when I'm using it with my sit on top on flat water, I notice that my arms and sides get quite wet.

Very Good Value
I am a casual paddler-primarily on lakes for fishing. As I have gotten older the boats and flotation tubes seemed to get heavier. I purchased a kayak with an overall weight of 40 lbs. It came with a 185 paddle that was just not right for me. A lakeside conversation led me to consider 220-230. This 230 is great for cruising the high country lakes in AZ with very little strain. I am very pleased with the low price but decent quality of this paddle.

Great for the price
We already had one of these and needed another paddle. This is a super fine paddle for the price. We let our kids and their friends paddle around with these. Our other one is several years old and has not broken, it's just scratched up from all the abuse on the rocks. The seller sent this very rapidly.

Pretty good recreational paddle
Seems like a pretty good recreational paddle for the price. Still missing a third hole ( as others have noted) so your ability to feather the paddle blades is limited and that option doesn't seem to work for right handed paddlers.

well, built and sturdy
my last paddle from a different manufacture, broke in an counter with a log. my new paddle from Carlyle. inspires far greater confidence given its sturdy construction. I love the yellow paddles, which differentiate it from all the black versions of this design.

One Star
Heavy. Floppy. I have to work twice as hard. Got what I paid for.

Four Stars
Good paddle for grandkids to use on one of our kayaks at a reasonable cost.
