I have not tried these hot, but as a cold pack they are excellent. I have a long standing neck injury that I treat with heat all winter but required some serious cooling relief during the hot summer months. I had been unable to find any product previously that would do the job adequately. These packs are amazing. They stay in the freezer all the time and don't take up much room at all. My husband steels them to put in his lunch box to keep his lunch cold all day. I have made a cotton slip cover to put around my neck which I tie on and it keeps my neck cold for up to an hour (no joke - I have timed it). Even on really hot days. Other products on the market just do not match up in comparison, just lasting 10-15 minutes at a time. They don't seem to take hours and hours to refreeze either like other products I have tried. Having 3 is just the job if you have a permanent injury that requires constant attention when it is hot. I wouldn't have been without them this summer.Even when I have been out and about and I have been going to placesthat have not had a freezer compartment so I can keep them stored in. I would double wrap them in a plastic bag in the top of the fridge and an hour later they would still be frozen and so I was able to use them.Even after an hour being in my home made cover I could still use them for longer without the cover, often using them for 1hr 20 mins. That is very impressive for an cold pack. They are of a very good size also so wrap round my neck really well. Would work well for knees, ankle, anything really. Couldn't recommend more.

Great product

Pop them in the microwave for a short while to reach whatever temperature suits you and they stay warm for quite a long time, certainly enough for most purposes.Pop them in the freezer and the get cold, but do not 'freeze' hard, just to the point where they can still be bent to shape to go round, in my case, my immensely swollen knee (housemaid's knee actually) following a lot on floor tiling without a soft pad to kneel on. (It really is very unpleasant and took four weeks to clear up).These pads were really good at reducing the inflammation and making the knee more comfortable while it settled down. Working wonders for my knees when they ache after very long days on my feet and running up and down stairs. So far I have only used cold on the advise of my friend (a nurse). She said cold for joints and warm for muscles. They stay cold for a long time and are flexible as described. The only thing that could be improved for me is to make a bigger (longer) version that would wrap right round my knee as I alternate on top and underneath depending on the pain. I also like the fact the instructions are printed on - no losing the instructions or having to dig them out when you need to use it. Good value for money since they work to relieve my pain.

Liked this, but found I needed to heat it in the microwave for longer than the recommended times for it be effective for me. However, I also understand that could just be my preference!

I used these for icing my knee post arthroscopic surgery. When they were fully frozen (which takes around 6 hours) I would taken them out and put them in a tubigrib folded over itself to create a compression effect and moulding the wrap well around my knee (recommended), and then apply on and off for 10 minutes at a time. It would lose its cool after an hour, then I would use the next one in the freezer.This was great and really helped with my inflammation, however after a month they began developing small leaks where the gel inside would ooze out (minimally). I have returned them for a full refund as I would have expected them to last considerably longer than this.In summary, I would recommend this item with 5 stars were it for occasional use, but if you intend to use them on a regular basis I might suggest trying a different brand.

Only used them cold so far. I apply them wrapped in a towel to my face for jaw/wisdome teeth pain. Nice and big so you can wrap them round the areas that are causing pain. Very well made. Easy to move, even when after freezing. In my experience, they kept cold for just over an hour but I'm not a naturally warm person. Great value for money because you get three in the pack. I would definitely recommend to anyone who needs pain relief often.
