Hunter Douglas Cord Lock for Honeycomb, Cellular, Duette, Applause Shade (Left, Large)

Replaced a broken cord lock on my Hunter Douglas blind. Perfect fit. Followed the instructions on a Youtube video and replaced with out any difficulty.

These parts look almost identical to the originals from years ago, with a big improvement: metal clips over two weight-bearing wearable plastic surfaces. A cord broke, and in the course of restringing it I realized that the cords on one side had worn a crevice halfway through the plastic corner where the tension goes from vertical (pulling on it) to horizontal (along the top rail toward the holes where they turn down to the bottom rail). That's why the cords on that side were so hard to move, and breaking. Now they have a nice smooth metal surface to slide over that won't wear through.

We've had the same blinds in all of the bedrooms for probably 20 years, only needing to replace a couple of these in that time. This one replaced one that the strings had worn a channel in the plastic so you had to pull the blind downwards, but the action ends up being similar on this one since the strings end up getting tangled even though I made sure to get them all straight before reinstalling. The design seems to be a bit more updated, but overall nowhere near as smooth as the original ones we had.

Not an easy fix, but that's not the part's fault. It now works better than when new, thanks to improved design. Don't throw out your shade, repair it.

This item was actually re-engineered and metal added where the string was cutting the plastic on the old style. Great replacement part!

Lucky to find a quality cord release to work with existing older blinds. Will purchase more as needed.
