Excellent book on Vietnam and neighboring countries.
I like the thorough information and guidance to travel through Vietnam and other close countries. Easy to follow and understand. I am visiting this fall and feel I know what to see and where to go.

Travel Book
This book had a great deal of info on all countries. It was arranged well and easy to follow. Good size to pack for take along.

Helpful ... more so than the online version
I purchased the Kindle version, thinking that would be better to take on my trip, but it was way too complicated. Print was a lot better and full of relevant information.

Nice that it covers the four countries in one book!
Didn’t realize that lonely planet has become the guide for low budget travelers only. The history section was interesting, but the details and maps at the city level were mostly a waste.Disappointing.

Not updated in years..
Although this is advertised as new and updated post covid, the only significant change from previous years seems to be a disclaimer that, due to covid, some things may have closed down.Absolutely no research was done into Laos, Cambodia, North Thailand, or vietnam beyond that disclaimer. We've traveled from Bangkok up to Vientiane by road and the bus lines provided in lonely planet are all wrong and at least 50% of the restaurants, hotels, are permanently closed. This book was a waste of time and money. That's our final straw with lonely planet. The books haven't been properly updated in decades it feels like and besides a very rough outline on attractions, which can be found on rough guide online free of charge, there is little to no benefits to lonely planet. Lonely planet has really fallen behind in the days of blogs and reddit and is no longer a reliable source of information for traveling.I should have just stuck with my ten years old copy of this book instead of buying the new updated one and wasting money.

Not too useful
I didn’t find this book too useful for providing historical information or travel information. I left it in one of the hotels

What a fraud, recycled old material
I was happy to see a new addition dated Oct. 2021, looking forward to updates on travel in the Covid era. And found....nothing. Covid or virus etc. not even listed in the index. No mention under hazards or health. All of the entry and visa information is two years out of date. No mention under hotel listing which are still open. Nothing on vaccines or vaccine requirements, quarantines etc. This is just old information in a new package. For shame Lonely Planet!

Consistent Lonely Planet
Lonely Planets are always a go-to travel book of mine and this SE Asia book is no different. I never rely on one book solely, but these are always where I start. Excited to dive deeper into Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & Northern Thailand!

A great resource of travel in 4 countries...
This is a budget to moderate guide of these countries with concentration on travel options between them and through them and great suggestions of sights in most travelled areas in those countries. Sleeping options are listed, with budget in mind. No Hilton here. A good guide for planning your next adventure!

Great book but don't buy kindle version
I bought kindle version of this book as I had limited space in my rucksack. I'd never have a guide book again on kindle. It does not work. Very hard to navigate.
