Great for a smokey taste on a gas BBQ without the need for coals...
This is awesome. At last, something that works effectively on a gas grill. I am lucky I bought the long and not the short box. I found it confusing which one was for which type of BBQ but luckily the short was the one I needed. Christened it the day it arrived. Don't expect it to remain perfectly silver after use, but I think it looks even better weathered! Now I am enjoying smoked food on a quick gas BBQ without having to fire up my coals. Perfect.

Great smoke box
Great shape and size. Fill with hickory chips, place on barbecue grid 10 minutes before cooking to get up some good smoke. Makes a gas barbecue more like a charcoal one.

Doesn't work very well, doesn't produce enough smoke for long enough...
Tried it in a gas barbecue having soaked the chips as recommended. It took some time, but eventually produced some smoke, but it petered out quickly.It has been replaced with (an admittedly) more expensive smoker, which sits on top of the BBQ, which works well.

Great idea, even better execution
Gas bbqs are great, apart from the taste is the same you get from the kitchen oven - so whatβs the point? Fill this with some wood chips and your food will actually taste like a good old fashioned bbq.
